Current Lewis Hamilton

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Brogan, that's a very encouraging bit of news to read, because I really hope that Lewis will still remain at Mclaren next season. If Lewis looks at his result today, and compares his with that of both Schumacher and Rosberg.......I really can't see how he would even consider leaving Mclaren for Mercedes.

IMO Martin Whitmarsh would prefer his driver choice JB to be No1 & a contender for WDC 2012
For the last two & a half years this priority for Button has caught Macca out...chasing their tail...
I can see why MW would want to try to emulate JBs 2009 WDC .....put him out in front & win..job done....Paul diResta as No2 ...
But the problem is Macca do not want LH driving for another team..... because as Lewis proved today he is quicker...unless he is given duff info...yeah Lewis.....awight mate...the old wing will be just as quick in quali etc....bullshit..
I hope the whole :censored:lot of them come to their senses and do the right thing...for all concerned... especially for their loyal fans:thumbsup:

I suspect no one gives a stuff about the 'loyal fans'.

Lewis is very quick on the right day, but should he leave McLaren, he will not find the right machinery to prove to all that he is the mustard.

Whitmarsh, on the other hand, wants the team to win the WCC - if they get the WDC as well, so much the better. He, Whitmarsh, strikes me as a very straightforward sort of chap and don't believe for one minute that he has a 'racing' preference in terms of drivers - I do think he finds Hamilton's behaviour a tad wearing though.

Latest comments from Whitmarsh on the "will he, won't he saga".

Meanwhile Whitmarsh says he expects to resume talks with Lewis Hamilton’s management company about a deal for next year in the coming days. He had stressed throughout the Italian GP weekend that the focus was on the race.

“As you probably know, we deal with management companies now, not directly with drivers, that’s the way of the world. We’ll be – I’m sure – having those conversations very quickly. I imagine we’ll have some conversations before Singapore.”

Asked if he was aware before this week’s media frenzy that Hamilton’s management had talked to Mercedes, he said: “I’m aware of quite a lot of things. It’s a small paddock, and they’ve got to be seen doing their due diligence, as you can imagine. I’m not surprised. I have some knowledge in fact of what’s been going on.”

Whitmarsh insisted that the team didn’t have an alternative plan, should it not conclude a deal with Lewis.

“I haven’t given a Plan B any thought. I want Lewis to stay – we want Lewis to stay if he wants to stay. You have a number of priorities when you’re trying to win a championship, and you divide your time, energy, focus, on those things.

“One of them is of course making the car better, faster, one of them is dealing with all the operational issues and making sure you don’t make mistakes, and the other is dealing with your own drivers. Rightly or wrongly I haven’t spent a lot of energy on that subject.
I have highlighted a couple of interesting points.

Dear oh dear Whitmarsh, where are your priorities? Wasting time improving the car to win 3 races on the trot, with the fastest pitstops in the pitlane, when he should have been massaging the drivers' egos and dealing with their so-much-more-important problems. Very neglectful. RESIGN!

Come off it, so no-one has said to Whitmarsh, "what are we going to do if Lewis leaves?" or if they have he's said "oh, we'll worry about that if it happens." If the question hasn't been asked of him everyone's scared of replicating the "Downfall" Hitler meme for real, if he has responded like that then he lives on a rainbow where unicorns shit Smarties.

As far as I know Jenson set up and owns that management company and Goddard works for him, and so Jenson gets a cut of his own wages, shrewd...:)

This is..... the Lewis Hamilton thread...and it must be another thorn in his side...Jenson Button's company advising Paul DiResta prior to the court case with LH's dad.
Martin Whitmarsh may say he hasn't got a plan B,. but ......this looks like a very cosy,,shrew strategy that JB's company look to have in place.
I wonder if David Coulthard gets a discount off his management fees with JB's company, for :friends: , whilst on the BBC F1 Prog...?

bottom line is,they want to pay lewis less than button is currently getting.theres no way he should agree to that.
also the way MW talks about button, you can tell he has a softer spot for him.
last week when jenson won MW was over the moon and heaped praise on button.yesterday MW didnt look anywhere near as happy, and was more interested in talking about button.
even after lewis's previous win MW didnt look very happy.this tells me he'd much rather see jenson win than lewis.
i think lewis can sense this and so he doesnt feel like he is part of the team.remember last season we were being told that button has got the team more on his side,he was now the new leader in the team,,remember that,,well it still feels that way to lewis.even when he was leading the championship MW was more interested in helping button.
and when the press were asking MW if button should now be made the number 2 driver, you could tell he really hated the thought of that.thats one of the reasons why he was so relieved when button won last week,it shut the press up.
martin doesnt like it when ppl put down jenson.but when its lewis who gets stick, martin like to join in and give lewis a few sneaky wacks too.
lewis wants to know he has the same backing from MW that jenson gets,if he can convince him of that, then i think lewis will stay at mclaren.

Bottom line is that that is just not true. - or at least you have NO EVIDENCE to back this suggestion up! The only suggestion that has come out is that it would be difficult for Hamilton to get as lucrative a contract as he signed back in 2007!

Which was seen to be very, very lucky given it was signed just before the credit crunch and all the cost cutting measures brought in

Salary difference....If it's true.... another brow beating/mind game...to make LH feel second best....
I have never seen Lewis, do or say anything to down JB.... the tweets......were desperation....with McLaren
I have seen LH help JB on many occasions...LH always said "Jenson & me"...etc
JB .......says my team mate...not Lewis ......somebody must have said something because he did make a bit of an effort...earlier this year. It really riles him when he is asked about LH....doesnt bother LH if they ask about JB...
The Pits
This year JB said........ at an after race interview........talking about FA having it easy as a clear No1....
JB looked directly at the camera & said" I keep telling them that".....

Looks like JB has sorted Macca...........his company is already managing a (Mercedes engine) driver/replacement?.......
JB could do a Brawn/Vettel type season ...put me out in front etc....it must be so attractive to MWhitmarsh who must be fed up with all the attention that LH brings to McLaren... ...but this is what the sponsors want...................attention.

After yesterday's race MWhitmarsh was asked "Great driver, you will be wanting to hold on to?"......no response ..did a bit of what he does best..............waffled...

LH has not mentioned money.....he just wants to win & he has said he wants Jenson to go for wins.....McLaren policy not a problem...but don't hold one another up...or tell one driver...one thing...Turkey 2010 etc.................
