Grand Prix 2025 Dutch Grand Prix

So we’re back after the summer break, & at Zandvoort, which i’d thought was in its final year of contract, but that actually comes next season in 2026

funnily enough, i’m on holiday at the seaside on britain’s east coast right now, & wondered how long it would take if i hopped on a ferry straight over to the dutch seaside town of zandvoort. turns out the 158 miles would take 7–9 hours, which i massively underestimated, not quite the quick trip i imagined LOL .

now, onto the serious stuff, the business end of the season. 10 rounds remain, with just 9 points separating Norris & Piastri in the title fight. Piastri has 6 wins to Norris’ 5, but both have 12 podiums each. perhaps the biggest surprise of all is that, at least publicly, they’re still on good terms. it could be the first time teammates fighting for a championship manage not to fall out.

that would break one of F1’s “unofficial rules”: as we all know the quickest way to go from friends to enemies is to be teammates in a title battle. as weve all seen pironi/villeneuve, mansell/piquet, prost/senna, hamilton/alonso, vettel/webber, hamilton/rosberg. so it’ll be fascinating to see if andrea stella and zak brown can keep things calm or whether the inevitable fireworks will come. as both drivers become increasingly desperate to clinch that world title

james vowles was funny. that mclaren turn up without any updates & still get quicker & quicker every weekend

Aston Martin, to say Newey is fully concentrated on 2026. those lunchtime chats he's having are working wonders theyve gone from 9th to 2nd quickest car based on this weekend

norris isnt doing a bad job. it just looks like they are incredibly level but piastri just finds a that hundredth when it matters

that ferrari floor / plank wear is so infuriating. how have they still got no clue how to solve it. when theyve known since april & make 2 brilliant drivers look far worse than they are

Its funny how an ex boss thought it was the rear wing flexing that was the difference. If anything theyve gone further ahead

as zak brown said thats not where our advantage is & he was spot on

if ever norris needed a great start its today. if max takes him into T1. it would be such a hammer blow psychologically for the championship

this is why lando will lose the title. these are the tiny reasons that keeps costing him. it was imperative he had to stay at worse 2nd

what a move from leclerc. hard but fair & lets not penalise overtaking when its what we want to see

for me that is a shocking decision. sainz get driven into by lawson, lawson cuts across sainz, ruins both races & yet sainz gets a 10 sec penalty

that was heartbreaking for norris. gutted for him, he didnt deserve that, lando sat head in hands. reminds me of mika at monza. with such tight margins its hard to see him comeback from that & you wonder are these the images that will define the 2025 F1 season

The race seemed more entertaining than it actually was.

Delighted for Hadjar. Not a fluked podium. He drove a solid race

Been a while since I've kept the Sky commentary on after the end of the race.

Christ it is boring now.

The first 30 minutes following the podium ceremony was spent talking about how tragic it was for Norris. Almost every interview reminded us that Norris didn't finish.

Yes it was unfortunate but tragic? Way too over the top.

I know he's marmite to a lot of people but Jacques Villeneuve needs more screen time. At least he says what he thinks unlike the bland beige dribble from everyone else.

It was really funny listening to him talk about Antonelli. Simon Lazenby kept trying to tone it down and go all corporate Sky TV but Villeneuve kept going.

Lazenby tried to close it out with "Well when Verstappen first came to F1 he made a few mistakes." To which Jacques countered "Yeah but Verstappen wasn't 4 tenths a lap of the pace"

Lazenby had to back out of it and quickly change the subject.

Like him or dislike him, the commentary needs more controversy. A bit more James Hunt and a lot less Jonathan Palmer.

im a huge fan of villenueve & i feel like i might me in the minority because i hear alot of people who are against but you need someone opinionated & he was spot on about riccardio. even if he had upset him, Riccardio was just in denial

Sainz penalty was controversial
it was controversial & ridiculous 1 of the worst penalties for a long time. because i said live, Lawson drives into sainz & sainz gets the penalty. makes no sense.
