So we’re back after the summer break, & at Zandvoort, which i’d thought was in its final year of contract, but that actually comes next season in 2026
funnily enough, i’m on holiday at the seaside on britain’s east coast right now, & wondered how long it would take if i hopped on a ferry straight over to the dutch seaside town of zandvoort. turns out the 158 miles would take 7–9 hours, which i massively underestimated, not quite the quick trip i imagined
.
now, onto the serious stuff, the business end of the season. 10 rounds remain, with just 9 points separating Norris & Piastri in the title fight. Piastri has 6 wins to Norris’ 5, but both have 12 podiums each. perhaps the biggest surprise of all is that, at least publicly, they’re still on good terms. it could be the first time teammates fighting for a championship manage not to fall out.
that would break one of F1’s “unofficial rules”: as we all know the quickest way to go from friends to enemies is to be teammates in a title battle. as weve all seen pironi/villeneuve, mansell/piquet, prost/senna, hamilton/alonso, vettel/webber, hamilton/rosberg. so it’ll be fascinating to see if andrea stella and zak brown can keep things calm or whether the inevitable fireworks will come. as both drivers become increasingly desperate to clinch that world title
