Grand Prix 2025 Canadian Grand Prix

Oh Canada, its incredibly the 10th round already. you know looking the championship its alot closer that it probably should be because Piastri has won 5 races compared to Norris & Verstappen's 2. & yet he only has a 10 point lead coming into this weekend's race Whether that says more about Oscar's inconsistency, & lando being better than we give him credit for, it's clear that this title fight isn't going to be ran away with just yet.

Canada has given us classics, chaos, and controversy in equal measure. in my opinion the greatest F1 race of all time the 2011 canadian GP. Vettel furious at 5 second penalty in 2019 & the rain last year. its a favourite of mine not quite a street circuit, but not a traditional track either, its fast, tight & unforgiving. this weekend its looking to be pretty dry all weekend

now onto the 2 big talking point of the week. Max verstappen has to keep his nose clean for not 1 but 2 races as if he get just the 1 penalty point, which can be for anything minor. he is banned become 3rd driver to reach 12 points, wasnt it Grosjean & Magnussen? im expecting him to miss austria or britain, as just cant see him keep it clean for 2 races its not in his nature. especially as Red Bull ring is the scene of most of his crimes the last few years as im sure he had a collision 3 times in austria since 2019

now for mystery of Lance stroll. im starting to believe that both things can be true at the same time. lance did worsen an already existing injury in the heat of the moment & Lawrence Stroll wasn’t happy with the behaviour post Q2, so they used the injury as both a recovery & cooling-off period

In the UK some nice prime time fathers day viewing, at 7pm. following the le mans 24 hours in the afternoon

Not done yet
nothing will come of it

I can't believe that Piastri wasn't penalized for driving an obviously damaged car back to the pits. Similarly, I couldn't believe that Albon wasn't penalized for driving a disintegrating Williams during Q1... Yet, Tsunoda, who overtook Piastri, who was driving eratically slowly, was penalised.

Madness.
yeah that what i thought as i think he limping back after hitting the wall of champions. & tsunoda gave him a very wide berth i glad not the only 1 that didnt get it. but yes some very strange stewarding this weekend

decent drive. well done to george, brilliant drive. controlled that race very well. Antonelli brilliant 1st lap which set his race up so well, couldve been 2nd. as i think he couldve had max at the end of the stint. & Who knew that if you treat a driver with love, respect & preparation time. your young talent can actually deliver & thrive. what a Wild concept. its almost as if the Red Bull method of "2 bad races & we’ll replace you with a 17 yr old in F2” doesn't work

Hamilton race was a disaster from his 1st pitstop that just kept getting worse, that just got worse. 6th will almost be a relief. if its not racing a damaged car & strategists making him losing 10-15 secs in traffic

lando reminds me so much of 2011 canada. its almost a carbon copy. im not sure what lando trying because there was never a gap to put your car through. but at least he was honest. losing 12 vital points he can ill afford to. when he had just done damage limitation closing up to piastri

I was going to say that the pitwall should be called Mclaren's wall from now on

Hamilton's strategy was strange with a fast Norris approaching surely and getting indications from the Verstappen and Russell . I can;t work out how the Ferrari strategists did not realise he was going to be behind Ocon and Albon

Ferrari though again floundered looking like 4th best team. The same old Ferrari problems are cropping up as even upgrades are not definitely coming.

It was also comical that Leclerc wanted plan C but they will went plan B !!

For someone with title aspirations, Lando Norris seems to be making too many errors either in the race, or in qualifying to be successful this season.
espically when you think of interlagos 2024, when he had a realistic title shot. he seems to try too hard & the best drivers at this time trust in the adage "if you drive slower you'll go faster"

I'm not going to say I called this last season and for some time now but if anyone wants next week's lottery numbers then give me a shout.

wasn't aware of scale of lewis hamilton damaged car. apparently he was effectively driving a ground effect car with alot of ground effect smashed

I was away on holiday; however, my Sky box had recorded the highlights show. It lied, there weren't any.
To be honest, unusually, it was better watching it live with a bit of the "unknown" about it than watching the highlights.

I thought it was quite enjoyable.
