To follow up on my average grid, here is the average finish. To finish you must be classified and not to have stopped on track in the last few laps. Hence, Lewis Hamilton does not get a 14th for the Spanish GP. However, Nico Hulkenburg (who finished 16th 2 laps down) is still recorded as 16th. (15th place man Liuzzi also DNF!)

So here's the list, the average and the amount of finishes:

25. SEN 17.600 10
26. YAM 17.800 5
27. KLI 21.000 2
This does tend to factor out each driver's worst moments, but it does give some indication of who finishes well when they finish.

Ed: A few mistakes with DNFs have been changed

Also interesting to see Kobayashi take the last spot in the top 10 finishers, denying Sutil and Barrichello a top 10 spot.

Hamilton confirms his rightful place in the pols here as driver of the year, finishing half a place ahead of the 2nd placed champion, and Chandhok beats Yamamoto by 5 places, also half a place higher on average!

Something that this really shows up is how far Kovalainen was clear of the other 'new' team drivers on average. Though their positions are affected by attrition, he's 2 places clear of Chandhok and Trulli per race.

The problem with these though is that it really depends on dragging the car home. How would it change the result if for example Vettel didn't finish Spa instead of dragging a car (he had crashed by himself, so could be classed as huis fault) around in 15th. Or how much would Buttons average change if you took out the result for Korea (which he could quite easily have retired from)?
