Pre-Season The 2014 season regulations

I'm betting Force India are not going for other reasons than being able to get there.

They don't have a good history at Bahrain!

I'd question what they're actually going to learn about the new tyres, given that they're expected to run this year's cars at the test - you'd get a comparison with this year's spec rubber, I suppose, but I don't see how useful that will be in determining how the new rubber reacts to the expected increased torque of the 2014 powertrains.

Better to save your pennies for January testing, methinks...

Anyone want to take a guess as to the numbers these gentleman will select.

Button has to go for Red 5 right?
Hamilton with 12?
Alonso in the #27 Ferrari?
Maldonado should be a good fit for 66.
Who will claim #99?

Good ideas by the FIA are few and far between and should be celebrated!

Can a driver have the number
999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

on his chassis and demand that the commentators always refer to him by his car number?

Between 2 and 99, I'm afraid downforce.

The issue I'm interested in... let's say this came in in 2006:

Michael Schumacher (#3) retires on the last day of the season.
Sebastian Vettel starts in F1 at the USGP and takes #3 in tribute to his countryman.
Schumacher comes back at the start of 2010.
What now?

Just read this on Autosport:

The rules also confirm that should a driver be too far down the grid to serve a full penalty, the remaining grid slots will be carried forward into the next race.

So if Chilton gets a 10 place grid penalty he could be serving it for the whole season? Or does it only get carried over once?
