The Aston Martin F1 Team, formerly known as Racing Point, formerly known as Force India, formerly known as Spyker F1, formerly known as Midland F1, formerly known as Jordan Grand Prix, is a formula 1 team based just outside the gates of the Silverstone race circuit in Northamptonshire, UK. Despite the numerous name changes the team are still based in the very same factory created by Eddie Jordan decades ago. The Aston Martin name returns to F1 as a team name for the first time since 1960. Aston Martin competed in six World Championship Grand Prix between 1959 and 1960 and scored no points. Teams that have been in F1 but aren't any more are legion, the record books are strewn with long-discarded F1 team names. Teams that have succeeded in F1 but aren't here any more are much thinner on the ground, Lotus, Maserati and Brabham are a few examples. Such teams are remembered, talked about, and figure in everyday conversation, at least among petrolheads "of a certain age". There are other teams that have been in F1, aren't here any more, but despite a lack of achievement (wins, WDCs and WCCs) have nevertheless made an impact. When you consider the names of Formula One teams that are not in Formula One anymore, the entry list has a few glaring omissions. Lotus really should be one of them but Formula One is missing the name of one of its great teams and one of its great champions. Brabham's history can be split into three sections. The first was the time of the man himself, Sir Jack. They won a couple of titles in the mid-60s, with Sir Jack the only man to win a World Title with his own team, and it seems unlikely that will ever be repeated. Today he's a joke figure who wears ridiculous shirts. But once Eddie Jordan was a team principal, possibly still a joke figure, admittedly, but his team did not do too badly. Their first season was in 1991, with a green and blue 191 which goes down as one of the very best debut cars ever, and they finished 5th in the WCC. The other debutant that year was Lamborghini/Modena, who did not impress. The next year saw Andrea Moda enter the fray. Entering F1 was not easy, but Jordan did it with flying colours.
