Denver vs. San Francisco in the super bowl. Just my prediction. And my wish at this point. Both of my teams lost last weekend. They combined for zero touchdowns on offense. Very impressive.

Go Niners/Falcons. Hate the Patriots who will probably beat the Texans, but I dont like them too much either, but they are better than the Ravens, who aren't quite as bad as the Patriots. Confused yet?

I watched the Super Bowl last night. Nothing super about it though, the last four years it has been broadcast here in Germany and every time I wonder, why do people watch it.
I ask myself, is this what society has dumbed down to? The answer. Yes. A pathetic show, I have seen better and at less hyped events. A pathetic sport that seems to have been invented for people with an attention deficit because hardly any move takes longer than a few seconds which is then followed up by a commercial break. Oh yeah. Commercials. Was everyone excited for the new Super Bowl commercial? Yes? We're not confronted by enough advertising day for day as it is right, that we uber- excited for some f***ing crap we get to see at a sport event.
It doesn't even deserve to be called a sporting event because that part hardly takes place......................................

Maybe it is me? Maybe I am simple minded, that I don't need all the other crap going on? No.

Unfortunately, virtually all sports today have devolved into essentially "entertainment", which means commercial interests come before everything else. Formula 1 is a prime example: continual rule changes to "promote competition", and cars that look like rolling billboards.
Don't forget the Olympics--"amateur" sports in today's world. There is nothing amateur about it!

By the way, last night's Super Bowl wasn't exactly representative, as it was one of the biggest blow-outs in the history of the game.

I tuned in just in time to see the Seinfeld "revival" and it was pretty awful. Also the Bruno Mars show which was not so bad, Red Hot Chili peppers was probably not the best choice. I didn't get to see any of the good commercial as up here are banned so we get the regular lousy ones. Football? After peeking the score at half time I figured it was a done deal so I changed channels and watch Groundhog Day (great movie by the way) ...

Yes of course. When watching American sports though it feels completely different. NFL, IndyCar, NASCAR, Baseball. In America it is extrem, at least to me it is, especially the amount of ad breaks.
It doesn't compare to European sports and Formula 1, yet.

America has zero attention span, and money trumps integrity. ALWAYS. But regardless of the horrors of living here the game was awful, the commercials were uncharacteristically bad, and the half time show, well I'm not a Bruno Mars fan but the Chili Peppers killed it! Ya maybe not the best choice but it was still awesome! But the Broncos. Not so much. Horrible game, definitely don't judge football off of this one anybody.

I loved it, but then I always do. Denver's first play really set the tone, tee hee. And I for one enjoy watching great defence as much as great, er, offence.

Maybe I suffer from attention deficit, but I don't really notice the ad breaks any more (which for the most part come in natural breaks in play). American Football is a stop-start sport, not unlike tennis, golf or cricket, say. And I stuck with it for three and a half hours - so maybe I have an attention surplus?

Is there any interest across the pond on the game this sunday? This year is a bit of a letdown with the so-caled (cue BBC) deflate-gate going on, but at least Lenny Kravitz is performing in the halftime show ...
