Philippe Streiff died today, aged 67. Streiff drove for AGS, Ligier, Renault, and Tyrrell between 1985 and 1988 as well as in the WTC and the World Sports Car Championship for Joest Porsche and Sauber Mercedes. His best result in F1 was a third place for Tyrrell in Australia in 1985.
Streiff's career ended after a crash in pre-season testing in Brazil in 1989 left him a quadriplegic and in a wheelchair for the remainder of his life.. His disability didn't stop his interest in F1 as he tried to take over the Ligier team in 1994, but the bid failed.
