What I find most impressive is when the driver has more wins than poles, as that seems to indicate to me that the victories are more due to the driver than to car superiority.

Or in some cases they're just a rather pedestrian qualifier whose style is not ideally suited for single lap pace.

No, because the TAG engine was funded by TAG and just happened to be built by Porsche. Porsche have been a car manufacturer and engine supplier in their own right to it's sensible to separate the two. Didn't Footwork have a dreadful Porsche built engine for a season?
 
and going back even further ...

Porsche 547/6 - a 1.5L F4 config ... used sparingly from 1958 - 1964
Porsche 753 - a 1.5L F4 config ... used in 1962
and the 3.5L V12 used by the Arrows in 1991 (aka Footwork Grand Prix International) ...
