Unknown to many peeps, McLaren has been supplying electronic components to NASCAR teams for a while. Today it was announced that McLaren would be supplying all fuel injector hardware and the engine management ECU to every NASCAR team. NASCAR will switch from their use of antiquated carbs for the 2012 season.
McLaren's tech partner in this endeavor will be Freescale Semiconductor, an Austin Texas based manufacturer that posts $4.5 billion in annual sales. I am especially proud of this because it furthers the international exposure of Austin Texas based companies, and furthers the rational of having an F1 event in that city.
