Kimi Räikkönen

Probably one of the coolest drivers ever to grace F1 alongside James Hunt.

His part life-style may not have been to some teams liking in F1 but you can't deny that Kimi was probably one of the best drivers on the grid from 2003-09. He should have won more championships than he did!

Kimi won his one and only F1 Championship in 2007. Kimi won 18 races, 16 pole positions, scored 62 podiums and claimed 35 fastest laps in his time in F1.

Kimi is probably the must unluckiest driver to ever grace F1 and the amount of retirements he had no fault of his own were lots.

Kimi won his first GP in 2003 winning the Malaysian GP and he claimed his last victory in F1 at the 2009 Belguim GP.

Kimi started his F1 career in 2001 driving for Sauber, he then went on to drive for Mclaren and Ferrari before quitting the sport in 2009.

Kimi produced probably the 2 most funniest moments to happen in F1 over the last 10 years, when he said :censored: at the Brazilian GP in 2006 when Schumi first retired from F1 and the other one at the Malaysian GP where the race was red flagged and he went to the garage and got into shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops and started eating ice-cream.

Whether you liked him or not you can't deny his talent, he produced one of the comebacks of the past 10 season by starting near the back of the Japan GP in 2005 and went on to win it! Probably one of his best race wins in F1.

Did you like Kimi or Not?

Yes but if they sack him they will have to pay his wages for the next two years,,,, again.....

-----------------------------------------------------------

...unless his contract includes a performance-related clause, which is what Sky pundits believe to be behind Kimi's apparent unwillingness to pinpont the precise end of his contract term.
That's actually quite plausible. Would Ferrari really as daft as to throwing millions away twice in the same way?

Yes. Its Ferrari. They've done way stupider. :)

That coukd be right then. In which case we have to start thinking who else is going to get the seat. Alonso apparently said he didn't want Hulkenberg as his team mate which prob puts Bianchi in the prime spot but you have to say Grosjean is crying out to be snapped up by someone.

Considering the number of problems Kimi's car had in practice (while Alonso's was, once again trouble-free), I think it will take a miracle for Kimi to even finish the race. I certainly hope I am proven wrong, however.

What problems did he have today?...

Vettel missed an entire session (not by any means for the the first time either) yesterday and he still beat his team-mate on his way to third didn't he?

Incubus RasputinLives Mephistopheles
yes Ferrari have got mugged by Kimi and the Robertsons again !! Luca's moment of madness thinking again firstly hiring him in thinking well he 's got to be as good as Schumacher so we will pay him top dollar and then replacing him with Alonso who he has praised as being better than Kimi

Then having seen that supporting Alonso does not get them closer to Red Bull and Vettel so try something radical and hire Kimi again who wanted a lot of money still and was on performance related pay at Lotus

---------------------------------------------------

You would think that Kimi would need to score at least 60% of the points Alonso as acceptable to justify at least some sort of retention

At the moment he was 33% of Alonso's points total but behind both Mclaren's and Force India's is not where he should be
and not justified his salary which is only less than the top 3

wasn't it Santander or shell that paid 60 mil. to get Raikkonen to Ferrari in 2007?
Anyway, i don't think Kimi is in it for the money, the guy has enough for a lifetime.

Kimi's seasons is just filled with bad luck and getting to grips with the V6 Ferrari. He probably would have been on the podium in Monaco if it wasn't for Ericsson or Kobayashi puncturing his tyre while unlapping himself during the safety car. In the end he left the race pointless. Think he also had a few encounters with Magnussen in the first few races.

Kimi got the Ferrari drive because Todt never forgave Alonso for turning his offer down to be part of Ferrari's development programme back in 2000 and Luca felt Schumacher was past it so the only option around who appears to be in his class then was Raikkonen

Kimi's management made sure he got a great deal when being asked to replace Schumacher.

well he's had a few bad luck races but he's had races where he has been woefully off the pace of Alonso as well

Kimi doesn't seem to be fired up. I don't think it's all bad luck, he's just gone of the boil, which he seems to do quite consistently.
