Hungarian Grand Prix

I suppose the Hungarian GP (1986) was the first new circuit that was a slow twister; but having said that the subsequent new circuits have tended not to be so twisty. They tend to have been circuits with long, fast corners and long, fast straights.

It is interesting that in the last 20 years only twice has the winner of the Italian GP won the Championship; maybe a testament to how much Monza is a 'freak' in amongst current circuits, because of a design trend more towards creating another Eau Rouge or Maggots/Becketts complex. (Turn 8 being a good example of this).

If I recall correctly the track was redesigned after the first couple of races as they had problems with a river or drainage which they had to run the track around originally. I'll see if I can find a link somewhere.
