BBC F1 Canadian Grand Prix programme has been nominated for a BAFTA.
Martin Brundle: Understand our Canadian GP F1 programme has been nominated for BAFTA. Sharp programme, great race, epically long commentary. Outside chance

Beg to differ....we didn't have the F1 equivalant of David Attenborough onboard due to Legard getting the sack :disappointed:

Legard: "That's an Owl!! My word! Shouldn't that be asleep Martin?"

Brundle: "I assu--"

Legard: "And it's taken off!!!!"

Legard wouldn't have got that far....

Brundle: Hamilton's got a great tow behi---
Legard: HE'S RIGHT BEHIND HIM!
OH NO! HAMILTON'S HIT BUTTON!
JENSON BUTTON HAS BEEN HIT!
HAMILTON IS OUT WHILE HITTING JENSON BUTTON!
THAT'S NOT GONE WE--

BOOM.

Let's not mock one of my favourite commentators of all time :(

Did anyone else realise the emphasis on Button?

I noticed that too, especially in the first season, but he calmed down in 2010. The first season he irritated me with his Button love-in but made me laugh in the second half of the season.

In commentray, quiet....and then

Legard: "AAAAANDD.....BUTTON!!!!!" LOL

If I am fair to Legard, the whole of BBC where in a Button love-in, even Martin Brundle, hailing Button "The best overtaker on the grid"

I can just hear Legard saying that. Nice guy, terrible TV commentator. The problem with him was that he couldn't adjust his style, being a radio commentator originally. There's just no need to shout out what's happening on screen as a TV commentator; if anything it detracts from the excitement.

Here is a relevant poem by "Magnificent Geoffrey" at F1 Fanatic:

Magnificent Geoffrey presents: Jonathan Legard – a short tribute.

Down the hill,
And towards turn one,
Jenson BUTT-on,
Pushes on.

Pole for Ferrari,
Is going to be tough,
Here comes Fernando,
IS THIS GOOD ENOUGH?!

Webber is flying,
But so too is Vettel,
As Nico Rosberg,
Is joining the battle.

THERE’S PROBLEMS THERE!
Is that a Ferrari?!
Nope, it’s actually,
Jaime Alguersuari.

SOOT-il has lost it,
And KOO-bica too!
That was the last thing
They needed to do!

I’m sorry there Martin,
You’ll just have to wait,
I’ve just been informed,
That Petrov is eighth.

Hamilton wins!
He’ll surely be happy,
But will he be champion,
Come Abby-Dabby?

What bothered me the most was that he never knew the difference between a front and rear wing:

*first lap tangle where you can clearly see a big part of a front wing fall off*

JL: AND THERE'S A CRASH!! MASSA LOSING A PIECE OF HIS REAR WING THERE!!!!

MB: No, that's his front wing.

JL: AND MASSA CARRIES ON WITH A BROKEN REAR WING!! THIS WILL SURELY HURT HIS HOPES FOR A GODO RESULT WON'T IT MARTIN!!!!!????

MB: It's his front wing, and yes-gets cut off-

-next lap-

JL: MASSA IN THE PITS!! Surely they'll need to take a look at his rear wing?!

Brundle definitely gained my respect for being able to resist punching him! Loved how he didn't even act nice towards him at the end of the season.

Leave the man alone....as if he didn't get enough humiliation when he got laughed at by his co-worker and dropped by the BBC team :(

Now he does commentray for the Football League show :disappointed:

The only reason why I watch it! :D
