Audio Porn......

The audio quality is clearer for some than for other but generally I am surprised how very similar they all sound from mid 1990's onward. Much harsher sound 1994-1990.

OMG V10, oh how I miss you.

I remember being at Silverstone one year having not been for a few years and thought, why are all the cars in cruse mode? then I remembered they were now the V8’s.

Shows how much gearboxes and torque have changed too over the years too. Those earlier ones, where the gearchanges took an age and the power was like an on/off switch compared to now where the perfect gearchange happens automatically and the power is delivered so smoothly.

Button's 2011 lap of Silverstone shows how much man and machine are now one. Completely different to Senna wringing the car's neck!

It will be fascinating to see how much turbo lag there is under the new engine regs. Anyone heard anything about that?

Personally, I really don't care what noise they make - and being honest, I can't hear that much of a difference all of the way from 1990 all the way to the present day! It's all just hot air to me!

Have you ever heard one, especially V10/V12, in real life?
It's shivers down your spine. You hear this screaming behemoth swell up in the distance, it's daunting yet it still feels far away. Then it comes closer and closer, it goes through the rpms, through the gears, it gets louder and louder, you hear the sound swell even more... As it's almost there, the sounds starts to engulf you, and when it passes, it's just you in this bubble of sound. This realm where nothing else exists for a moment, then just that wonder of technique passing by.

Yep.... It's just not anything particularly special.... I never quite know what the fuss is about the "Noise" - and why anyone was worried about a change in "noise". Speed was always what mattered to me.

Nothing beats a V12, or a V10 at a push.

Where we currently live, we're lucky in that there are a lot of rich bastards with Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc, so we get to hear them all the time.
They sound even better when in the underground car park beneath the apartment :D

For me, the early Matra v-12 had the all-time greatest exhaust note, although the engine was a powerless boat anchor.

I must admit, however, that I have never heard the BRM v16 in person. I've heard it is rather spectacular

When i'm at a track and let's say a Murcielago passes, i can't help it, but it spontaneously puts a laugh at my face. I don't think i will have that with these cars.:
