Grand Prix 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix

The Circus rolls on to Hungary this weekend, the final weekend of F1 action before the summer break, at the Hungaroring. intrestingly was just watching the 2013 Hungarian gp on Sky F1 last night. it was so long ago that Hamilton, Alonso, Hulkenburg, Perez were racing

This race has real historical significance. It was a trailblazer: the first Formula 1 race behind the Iron Curtain, opening the door to Eastern Europe in the late 1980s, much like Bahrain did for the Middle East in 2004, or how Singapore redefined what a Grand Prix could be under floodlights in 2008. Bold, experimental moves that have since become key turning points in F1’s global journey.

which for reasons i never understood at the time. it is also the unofficial Finnish Grand prix, due to sheer amount of Finnish fans that would descend on Hungaroring supporting Hakkinen, Raikkonen & Bottas over the years. also has the reputation of where the drivers win their 1st race. whereas in F1 history Monaco actually has the record for most 1st time winners in the Sports History with 9. since Hungary joined in the late 80's no circuit has more.

it was the sight of funniest F1 start, we will likely ever see.

After the chaos and controversy at Spa on Sunday & with the debate still rumbling. the stewards & race directors will be thrilled to hear that more rain is forecast for Sunday. What could possibly go wrong?

This is the problem with someone as "old" as Alonso trying to continue to compete. As we all reach 40, our bodies stop recovering in the way that we are used to, and even super-fit athletes have to call it a day.

Personally, I would advise Fernando to start looking at what retirement can bring...

He is getting to that point in his life. Hopefully, he recovers in time to perform at his best in the qualifying and in the race.

you think kimi, Riccardio, Vettel even damon hill retiring in 36-39 age heres is alonso trying to go in some case a decade further on. i was looking at some equivalents.

The nearest comparison in recent years would be Graham Hill - who was still racing at age 46 in 1975 - however, by that time, his ability to wrestle a car was significantly fading - in fact, his last "competitive" season was in 1968, and should probably have retired from racing after 1969. However, he continued, and had five more seasons of uncompetitive racing.

It should also be noted that there has not been a driver aged 44 or older to win a race since the 1950s - the oldest since the 1950s would be Jack Brabham, and in recent years, the oldest driver to win a race was Nigel Mansell at age 41.

yeah i think nobody has won a race after competing in 300gps & in last 50 years only mansell has won a race in his 40s..if alonso was to win next year he would be the 5th oldest in f1 history & the oldest since Brabham in 1970 at kyalami

During the 1950s - which were a different time. Since Fangio retired, I believe that only two drivers have even won a race in their 40s - Jack Brabham, and Nigel Mansell.

The other thing that's changed is that most drivers were in their early 20's by the time they were entering F1 and certainly by the time they were winning.

Nowadays drivers start in F1 at about the same age they transition from nappies to those pull up day pants type Huggies.

shocker for lewis. 13th, he just cant put together consecutive good sessions. after postives of spa, straight back to disappointing result, really struggling with oversteer seemingly. even if it was just quarter of second of leclerc

but what a strange Q3. leclerc has got pole with a time almost 6 tenths slower than Norris Q2 time

As for Leclerc - remember his conversion ratio is poor so unless Russell torpedoes both Mclarens I just dont see Charles winning giving the speed advantage of the Mclaren


Oh yeah Norris and Piastri nearly collided in practice


Verstappen is only 8th which could spell trouble if the cars around him are quicker because we know the Red Bull tends to go backwards in the race

The two Racing Bulls will they act as bodyguard to Verstappen or will they race him then?

am interesting to hear about the statement Lewis made after quali

im hoping this is him being very pessimistic post qualifying as he has the tend to. i remember 2016 British gp when he qualified 6th. he did the same then

he funny part is that he was only quarter of a second off leclerc in Q2 & his Q2 time was quicker than Verstappen Q3 time. for me it looks like the car isnt giving him the confidence as the rear is very oversteery. he cant have confidence to put the power down early

I think Aston Martin still got a long way to go - they seem to suffer the Red Bull problem as well in that the tyres warm quickly but they drop off in race trim
