2016 Predictions

Well lets see how I did.
  • Hamilton to be WDC again. Close but no.
  • Rosberg to leave Mercedes at the end of the year. Hell No.
  • Red Bull to finish lower than 4th in WCC. Nope they are back on form
  • Bottas to get his first win. Nope, I'm starting to loose faith.
  • McLaren to finish mid table. YES. Steady improvement.
  • This will be Kimi's last season at Ferrari. Nope.
  • Jenson will retire at the end of the year. YES.
  • Sky and Channel 4 will cancel their TV coverage and you will have to collect tokens from 888 casino to watch F1 in 2017. Well there's still time
  • Bernie will admit he is a vampire. He would never admit it what was I thinking
  • Eddie Jordan won't get a job on Sky or Channel 4. (pleeeeaaseee) Nope
  • Pastor will loose his funding and be shown the door. Yes even before the season started
  • It will be wet at Silverstone I can't remeber . Edit YES
  • Max will have a second year slump. Couldn't be more wrong
  • Renault will beat Red Bull in the WCC Big time wrong
  • The tyre rules will be deemed too simple and made even more complex for 2017. Yes they are changing again. Dunno
  • The EU will rule in Sauber and Force India's favour. This has gone very quiet, has Bernie had everyone killed?
  • It will become increasingly transparent that the 2017 rule changes will fix **** all. Yep
  • A loony will invade the track. (Pastor doesn't count) No
rubbish LOL

Just realised I needed to amend prediction No. 2 from Hell No to Hell Yes.

The only one to see it coming :whistle:

Completely forgotten about this
  • After a 4 way battle for the title between 2 merc drivers Vettel & Riccardo. Which gets Whittled down to Lewis & vettel head to head in abu dhabi That was massively wrong apart from the final line
  • 1 or both (likely nico) to leave Mercedes at the end of 2016 Yes after another Belgium type incident Yes the intra team pressure boils over irreparably Yes after the added pressure from vettel breathing Down there necks no (was going so well)
  • Red Bull to win a race or 2 & finish 3rd spot on got them to win 2 races but even exceed my expectations with 2nd
  • Manor to get a top 5 maybe even a podium. With new 2016 engine - no they improved but nowhere near that
  • McLaren to will improve but not til post summer break by which time alonso will quit or be fired with vandoorne the replacement techically yes vandoorne was the replacement for 2017 & no as Mclaren did improve but earlier than expected
  • This will be Kimi's last season at Ferrari. But then I thought that in 2014 & 2015 No he took the nails out of his own coffin despite 2014 2015 & 2016 he actually deserves a drive in 2017
  • Pastor will have make or break year. Will either impress or disappear but will tough Renault will have a hard yr coming 8th/9th. Yes he broke before he began but renault did have hard yr finishing 9th
  • Haas f1 will take a bit to settle in but Grosjean will score at least 1pt this season. They didnt need to settle in but Grosjean did score points with a 5th & 6th in 1st 2 rounds
  • Max Verstappen will get a move to a "senior" team by the end of the year. As with kimi retirement red bull hand is forced. Spot on but i didnt think red bull would ditch Kyvat so early & viciously. Its a good job horner did after a world champion retired but not kimi. Couldve lost him
  • Money will finally become fairer system i have no idea

My record:
  • Someone will get an unexpected result due to being cleverer with the new tyre rules in the flyaways. Grosjean take a bow. And anyone else who beat Vettel in Melbourne.
  • The variation in tyre strategies will make way to a new hegemony by the end of the season. Oh, yes.
  • The Azerbaijani government's decision to take the title "European Grand Prix" will convince no-one that Azerbaijan is in Europe, but a whole ton of people that it is, indeed, in Asia. Put it this way, it will be called the Azerbaijan Grand Prix next year.
  • Williams will be shit in Monaco. Oh yes.
  • Williams will flatter to deceive. No, they've been bad.
  • Fernando Alonso will still not be as funny as Jenson Button on team radio, however hard he tries. I'm calling it.
  • Haas will be competitive with Manor. Well, they were better than that!
  • Ferrari number 5 will grow increasingly competitive with Mercedes. Went in the other direction.
  • Raikkonen will be finally put out to pasture at the end of the season. Leave me alone, I know what I'm doing!
  • Alonso will invite Ron Dennis to do one at the end of the season. Well, it wasn't Alonso.
  • Nico Rosberg will be slightly slower than Hamilton at most races, and look and act like his big brother nicked all his Christmas presents. Yes, but the look never came because he won the championship.
  • If Hamilton is ever slower than Rosberg at a race, there will be increasingly bizarre complaints that Mercedes' strategy is unfair because Hamilton wasn't given special treatment. It's a conspiracy!
  • Mercedes' strategy will be conspicuously fair, until Vettel gets within 20 points of them... By the way, telling a driver to drive quickly to win the race is not unfair, so yes because Vettel never got close.
  • Maldonado will find himself out of a job by the end of the season. Ha, or the start!
  • Gutierrez will thrill the Mexican audience by getting the shite kicked out of him by Grosjean. Let's have a look at the Championship then...
  • Palmer will be good, but not half as good as the British press seem to think... He was possibly underrated!
  • ... Ricciardo too ... He was amazing.
  • ... Bottas too ... Again, underrated!
  • Manor will actually start to outperform someone other than Haas. At some point Sauber and Renault both looked dodgy.
  • The McLaren-Honda story shall just get funnier. Ron getting the old heave-ho?
  • There will be lots of talk about the ultra-soft going off in one lap, then a Force India or Sauber will run the bloody things for 34 laps at Monaco, possibly with Kimi Raikkonen climbing all over said gearbox. Overly specific, so no.
  • The Finn, Finn and half-Finn podium of Raikkonen, Bottas and Rosberg will finally come to fruition. And now it never will.
  • The pole-sitter will win in Barcelona. Well, if he doesn't end up in the Turn Four gravel trap with his team-mate.
  • The rain will return to Interlagos. Just call me Jos the Boss. Well actually, don't, this prediction was made before the event.
  • Force India will perform well at Spa despite going on about how shit they'll be. 22 points, but I think we were expecting them to be quick by that point.
  • Red Bull will not pull out of F1. Hooray!
  • Ferrari will not pull out of F1. 66th year in a row!
  • Prost will no longer be alone on 4 WDCs, although he'll celebrate eDAMS' double with Buemi in Formula E. Where to start? He wasn't actually alone in the first place, sorry Seb. No-one new joined the party though and eDAMS did take the Formula E title. I suppose this is technically all true, but based on a false premise.

Sorking together on C4
  • Ted Kravitz's shoes will be a constant item from discussion by the Sky team and still none of us will give a shit

Ladies and gentlemen, I claim a long term win on this as in FP1 this morning they discussed Ted's summer holiday and his visit to a shoe outlet factory in Germany where he bought some new sandals.

Dear Sky, we still don't care and for health and safety reasons you shouldn't let this numpty into the pit lane in open shoes anyway.
