The "European" Season continues in Canada at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Last year Vettel took pole and the win, somehow this season it doesn't look likely that there will be a repeat, rather we will see the two Mercedes drivers battling things out for win seven out of seven as Hamilton and Rosberg share the races out between them.

After Monaco Rosberg has returned to the top the drivers championship but is 4-2 down to Hamilton in race wins. Lewis likes Canada so perhaps this race will see things tip back in his favour. The big question will be the inter-team dynamic after Monaco. Rosberg's pole appears to have rankled Hamilton and he questioned the team tactics regarding the safety car. Perhaps a pole to flag win for the Englishman will put these things to the back of his mind.

Red Bull and Ferrari will battle to be the best of the rest, with Daniel Ricciardo proving that the decision to give him the "second" Red Bull seat has been more than justified. Force India, Toro Ross and McLaren will, almost certainly, be battling for the final places in the top 10 in both qualie and race with Hulkenberg and Perez likely to come out on top but pushed hard, especailly by Danial Kvyat who is looking to be a genuine talent. Quite how Lotus will perform remains to be seen with both cars and drivers blowing hot and cold in the first races of the season.

Marussia are unlikely to repeat their points scoring antics in Montreal but the lift the result in Monaco will have given them will hopefully propel them forward and bring interest from new sponsors. Sauber and Caterham will be at the back, or perhaps they will create a shock and suddenly find some pace.

So another Mercedes win, almost certainly. Which of the Mercedes drivers takes the win could have a huge effect on the rest of the season. Let's hope the for a good race. As well as your top 3 predictions I'd welcome your suggestions for victims of the Wall of Champions 2014.

Still cant see how Perez is getting a penalty. There was absolutely no "jink" to the left. The circuit turns to the right there and Massa simply misjudged how far Checo was going to turn and when to actually make the move. Felipe is the one that actually turned into his opponents car. He posted this ridiculous picture on Instagram today too. Shades of Trulli and his photographic evidence.

Smedley must have done this up on Windows 95.

I'll post some video here soon of what actually occurred.

The point that is getting illustrated there is that Perez has moved over to cover Massa instead of continuing on the normal line which Vettel is taking. Contact was made and as Perez was the one making the late move he is the one getting the penalty.

Or perhaps he was going for the late breaking into T1 to take Vettel on the inside, just as Massa was planning to do to Perez?

Quite honestly I have no idea how stewards reach the decisions they do.
I haven't for some time but there appears to be no logical explanation, nor consistency at all in most cases.

Pretty much why my interest in F1 is now to the extent that if I've got nothing better to do I'll watch it, otherwise, couldn't care less.

I completely agree there is no consistancy on stewards decisions Brogan and there are far too many handed out for basicly what are racing incidents. F1 seems to have developed a blame culture. Someone makimg a mistake and accidently taking someone with them is all part of racing isn't it?

Penaltys used to be reserved for dangerous driving and deliberatly either gaining an unfair advantage or deliberately impeading someones progress. If you can see any of those in the Chilton incident here, the Ericsson inncident at Monaco or the Kvyat incident at China then I'm a monkeys fathers's brother.

Dario Resta I assume that's because Senna was already effectively in front of Schumacher, having moved left onto the normal line for the right-hander ahead, when Schumacher just ploughed into the back of him. Whereas Perez was already on the correct line for the approaching left-hander, then jinked left just enough to clip Massa who was steaming down his inside. Whether Massa would have made the corner anyway at the speed he was doing, we'll never know.

Chad, Bruno had already gone right, so Michael went left. Bruno then moved back left to take the racing line. Unfortunately, Michael had fresher tyres and could brake later, so was caught out. Bruno said at the time he thought Michael would go right, but the point I was trying to make was Bruno moved twice in the braking zone. Once to the right, then back to the left. IF Perez made a slight move to the left, then that was one less than Bruno made, yet in that instance, Michael got the penalty.

So is it a rule then that one change in direction isn't allowed in the braking zone?

If it is Then Schumacher should have started from pole in Monaco after hitting Bruno Senna at Barcelona. There was a definite move right then back left in the braking zone from Bruno before Michael hit him.

It seems like a very gnarly racing incident to me. Don't think either driver should be penalized. A lost podium is a penalty in itself, but I don't think there was any dangerous driving that needs a penalty to encourage correcting.
