2011 Vs 2013

downforce

Race Winner
Since 2011 that year has been the reference point for the Red-Bull/Vettel combination at its most crushingly dominant. Not surprising, it was one of the most dominated seasons ever.

However 2013 may be even more so, by the years end which do you think will have been the more dominant?

2011
In 2011 there was only 2 races where he didn't finish on the podium where as there has been 3 so far this season (and it is likely to stay at 3)
In 2011 it was obvious from the very beginning who was going to win, whereas this year at the start Alonso and Raikkonen looked in with a chance and after Hungary it looked like Hamilton could just about snatch it.
In 2011 the WDC was won in Japan, this year it looks like it will be won 1 race later.
In 2011 Hamiltons Korean pole position was the only non Red-Bull pole, whereas Mercedes have quite a few this year (around 7 I think)

2013
In 2011 the most races he won consecutively was 3 whereas he has won 5 so far and is still on that run and likely to make it 9.
His win total in 2011 was 11, he is currently on 9 and likely to pass 11 and make it 13

There was a mix of drivers winning this year until RBR managed to bully their way to getting the tyres they wanted. Since then there has been a single win by Hamilton, the rest have been Vettel.

difference was the EBD and the unlimited use of DRS in quali in 2011

this year it was close and it got Red Bull and Vettel worried when they got a whooping in Spain where they were the most vocal about conserving tyres limiting their race pace.

Silverstone proved to be a moment of luck for Vettel and Red Bull because their main challengers relied on softer tyres whereas Red Bull worked their tyres more

2011 actually had some great racing though. Monaco that year was one of my faves and Canada was a mixed up classic.

We don't seem to have got any races to match those in 2013.

Vettel has been dominant in both years but his competition has been less consistant in 2013 than 2011.

I think 'bully' is a strong word. They certainly tried early on and failed. in actual fact it was the blowing up.of tyres at Silverstone that led to the entire F1 world screaming for the change (including Red Bulls main rivals) so lets not rewrite history here. This is not Ferrari in 2003.

RasputinLives ah yes the bigger grooves with started bigger and wore down to the required length and the current FIA president made noises he will protest if Michelins used the same tyres after getting a whooping in Budapest

Malaysia this year was massive for Vettel and the rest because the imploding within Red Bull has not materialised into internal war like we've seen at Mclaren and Williams in previous seasons with teammates
