Would they need to though, the most optomistically optomistic person would argue that it's only the Mclarens who have the capability of taking the fight to the Red Bulls all things considered. There is no chance Alonso will win the championship now, and you can quote me on that.
 
It is true though, last year Alonso was 50 points behind and only just clawed it back by the end so he would need a lot of miracles or divine intervention to get back 100 points.

Judging by Ferraris comments I don't think they had figured that out seeing as they are practically giving up
