At last, Lotus are not bottom of the time sheets.

Looks like some solid progress there.

Still worried about Virgin though. They don't seem to be able to put the laps on the board.

They spent a lot of this morning putting the car back together after Glock crashed yesterday, so their reliability is perhaps not as bad as it would appear. They just aren't getting any good fortune... just mis...

It seems Kobayashi is a clear favourite for the Toy09a drivers' title, but why are Genii Renault 4 seconds behind the Hulk in addition to Proton Lotus and Simtek Manor Virgin?

7th and 8th, Shamilton. Stunning! (And yes, its only testing)

Looking at Renaults performance so far across the 4 tests I think they are struggling for pace. I don't think it would come as a suprise to anyone for this to be Renaults last season. I guess it depends on RBRs performance weather they remain with just the engines.

14 days until the real thing. It can't come soon enough.

I don't know what to make of the times set over the past two days. :dunno: I really don't! :s Usually there are some clues but so far there aren't any. Aside from Fernando's long run in the afternoon where every single lap appeared to blend seamlessly with the previous and into the next, no one is giving anything away.

I'd have at least thought Lewis or Sebastian would treat us to a glory run giving us some benchmark to work from... :nah:

Can someone please explain why Mercedes claim not to be running their final diffuser design until Bahrain? Wind tunnel and CFD might predict it to be better but what if the bolt it onto the car at the first race and it a) doesn't work or b) completely c#cks up the handling and balance of the car. Gamesmanship?

I suppose they can always bolt on the diffuser they have been testing if it turns out not to work.

Worst possible senario is they have one car with an updated diffuser and one without...

I suspect they discovered a flaw very early on in testing and testing the reworked diffuser before Bahrain just wasn't possible. Ross Brawn said they had a problem and had identified and knew how to fix it at the first test. There was a lot of speculation in the press about them having a problem with weight distribution but a flaw in the diffuser actually sounds more credible.
