Television Best and worst of Television!

No accounting for taste is there.

If you ask me, the major channels have just given up when it comes to doing something special for Xmas. The major movies have been on Sky or online rentals for 2 years or more before they make if onto normal TV. Remember when you wondered what the Beeb and ITV would do to beat each other? It wasn't as bad this year but last year there were no festive specials at all.

I'm struggling to think of a single program or film I have watched on the "main" channels over the past few years.

I simply abhor all of the period drama crap the BBC churns out, and as for ITV and the "reality" (sic) crap, the less said about that the better.

I suspect most of my viewing now is Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, Fox and SyFy, plus the movie channels and on demand.

And of course, watching a film on any main channel other than the beeb and you have the pure pleasure of someone trying to flog you something or other, just as you're really getting in to the movie.

I'm in Canada and some of the greatest shows I watch are only available as a download or Netflix. The scripted shows I must watch every week are: Top Gear UK, The Goldbergs, Big Bang Theory, Walking Dead, The Leftovers, Orange is the new black, Wentworth, Justified. Shows I love but are no longer on: Dexter, Breaking Bad. I have stopped watching almost all "reality" shows because they are all so faked. the tip off is always where the cameras are. Example: I was enjoying "Fast'N'Loud" and the main characters were driving along a road looking for a car to work on when they spotted an old car in someones back yard. They saw all the "No Trespassing" signs but pulled in and acted like they could get shot at. Then smashcut to them walking up to the door and knocking on it, only to see a camera shot of the owner inside his house, walking up to answer the door. How did the cameraman get inside the house? It's all bullshit

Just caught up with the latest Broadchurch and, despite the hype, it is still really well acted and looks like it may be as good as the first series. I hope so because the Christmas telly was crap.
