I certainly have to agree with that. I have been on immune suppressants and anti-inflammatorys for over 45 years to combat my Crohn's disease. As a result, I have not the slightest hint of arthritis, which both my sister and brother are cursed with (as was our mother). Always look on the bright side.

Start exercising so it becomes a habit before you get bored of being a non-smoker.

I didn't and I was back enjoying a fag after 18 months... Thought a Christmas one wouldn't hurt. Then it went shitty at work and I couldn't think of a good reason to stop again.

I know... Selfish and no will power :D

I cannot say how pleased I am to hear that you seem to have come through your kidney problems fully intact.

I stopped smoking twice, alas starting again out of sheer boredom. The second time was going to be gradual but turned out to be almost instant. It was brought on by a specialist telling me that the problem that I was having with my leg was down to poor circulation caused by smoking. Given the stark choice of my leg getting to the state where walking would be difficult or even impossible against exercising and not smoking it was a no-brainer.

This morning Openreach sent two vans to finally fix my below standard speed internet. Once they got going they found just which length of the copper was the problem and then replaced it. So after three and a half months or so we are finally getting to 35Mbps we were promised.

It has been an uphill struggle, twice Plusnet support have closed tickets saying that we were getting the maximum possible; I'm sorry but if I am promised 35 Mbps 28.5 is simply not enough. One Openreach engineer agreed with them but another one showed that there was a fault on the line and he finally fixed it.

Don't take "No" for an answer!

I feel your pain brother. I have been in a battle since December 8th with a connection that drops out completely several times a day for 5 minutes at a time. So far 7 openreach engineer visits. During that time they managed to disconnect me completely for 7 days over the easter weekend. I thought it was fixed after the fibre ports were replaced on monday this week but no it has gone down twice in the last hour. 140 days now and saga continues.

In all seriousness has anyone gone to offcom as I feel like this is my only leverage. Are they actually any good at getting results?

Oh by the way I have been offered £30 compensation By First Utility (broker for Talk talk) laughable.

Still I enjoy the complaint process I brings me joy to bring others (assholes) pain.
So there is always a bright side.

This past weekend was gorgeous, so my wonderful wife and I decided to do some exploring of Vancouver Island in our Lotus Elan!

If driving an Elan over mountain roads in bright, warm sunshine isn't the best way to spend a spring day, I don't know what is! The car is so nice, it is even an absolute hoot driving in Victoria itself!

You should try the roads round here. That would probably burst your bubble.

The roads in the old Strathclyde region have always been crap, many years ago there was a sign on the A82 saying " Welcome to Strathclyde", within 5 metres there was a pothole of enormous proportions and it stayed there for many years. There was also the case of the A74 when it was being upgraded where the cats eyes led you into a banking wall as the new road went straight on without cats eyes:rolleyes:. Bad roads in your region are endemic and part of the local history, John MacAdam way have invented the tar macadam road but local councils have always resisted change up there:D
