The Canadian Grand Prix will be upon is very shortly. Work is very busy for me at the moment, so this will be quite brief. What I thought I would share is some firsts and lasts in Canada. Here are some lists:

First Win
1978 Gilles Villeneuve
1989 Thierry Boutsen
1995 Jean Alesi (it was Jean's only win and one of only two drivers to win on their Birthday - can you name the other?)
2007 Lewis Hamilton
2008 Robert Kubica
2014 Daniel Riccardo

First Pole
1972 Peter Revson
2007 Lewis Hamilton

Last win
1973 Peter Revson
1981 Jacques Laffite
1991 Nelson Piquet
1995 Jean Alesi (well durr!)
2008 Robert Kubica (well durr again!)

Last Podium
1967 Dan Gurney
1971 Mark Donohue
1973 Jackie Oliver
1973 Peter Revson
1977 Jochen Mass
1979 Clay Regazzoni
1989 Andrea de Cesaris
1991 Stefano Modena
2007 Alex Wurz
2008 David Coulthard

Last race
1969 Al Pease (DSQ)
1971 George Eaton (15th)
1972 Bill Brack (Retired)
1973 Francois Cevert (Retired)
1973 Jackie Stewart (5th)
1974 Eppie Wietzes (Retired)
1974 Jean-Pierre Beltoise (DNQ)
1976 Guy Edwards (20th)
1977 Patrick Neve (Retired)
1977 Ian Scheckter (Retired)
1978 Bobby Rahal (Retired)
1982 Riccardo Palleti (Retired)
1984 Mike Thackwell (Retired)
1989 Christian Danner (8th)
1991 Stefan Johansson (Retired)
1998 Jan Magnussen (6th)

Having spent ages going through various databases and different websites I now realise it would have been easier just to write some rubbish (like I usually do), so I hope you find this interesting. Here's a bold prediction from me, Lewis Hamilton will take his first full race win for Ferrari this weekend. And it's another sprint weekend, so Max George for the Sprint win.

that is a Hammer blow to george that engine failure

with lando this is pretty bad day to be british driver with a mercedes engine

also 2011 Canadian gp was the reason why Pirelli gave us the high degrading tyres. can the 2026 Canadian gp start the momentum to Pirelli gives us lower Degrading tyres. so we can see them going flat out every week

Add Albon to Brit drivers with Mercedes engine issue and bad luck

Was interesting to see Hamilton beat Leclerc by 34 seconds with no incidents impacting Leclerc or good fortune on Hamilton's side. Just a clean race.

Russell is going to have to dig deep to turn this around. Like Lando a year ago. But I wouldn't rule it out.

I can't help but think that if Hamilton was still at Mercedes he would be heading for an 8th title.

leclerc soundly beaten in every session & 34 seconds behind in the race. that is going to hurt

Hamilton is a Montreal specialist so I was not surprise although you wonder now whether the Ferrari simular has something to do with it

I agree if Hamilton was at Merc he will be romping to an 8th title but off course his detractors will always have something to say

The fact he overtook Verstappen cleanly and beat him was more satisfying . Incidently is a whopping 88pts behind now he aint going to come back like last year because Ferrari and Mclaren are just as quick to act as road blocks to Mercedes . The silly season is already spicing up - Jos was seen with Toto in the paddock.

The unsung hero of the weekend is Colapinto 6th place - best of the rest helped by Mclaren blunders.

Mclaren - you have to shake your head for what they were trying to do

That was a fun race, made all the more enjoyable because George had a hissy fit, and I went two for two in my predictions.

Piastri was on the radio during the Formation lap saying they should pit and ditch the intermediate tyres.
The Australians are going mad that there is a conspiracy at Mclaren that they dont want Piastri to beat Norris in refusing his request

It was a bonkers decision though and feels like Mclaren of old - too rigid in their strategy.

They might have started at the back but at least they did not lose too much time in doing it

Would Mclaren not have been better to peel off into the pits after the formation lap to get to slicks ?

Jenson Button would have nailed it in that situation that it was his call
apparently both drivers never wanted the inters. but we're forced into them
