If Ineos buys out the works team was the suggestion I believe - but that would depend on whether Ineos also buys the engine manufacturing arm, if they did then there would be no "Mercedes" engines, if not then it woudl be a case fo whoever stumps up the most cash for engines gets to be "works" - or whoever Mercedes deems to be the best opportunity for positive brand exposure - so Red Bull
So your suggesting that Mercedes no longer becomes the works Mercedes team if the team principal leaves and joins Aston Martin even though the only connection to Mercedes at AM would be their former principal?
It would make sense if they want to promote Aston Martin like Renault are with Alpine.
Toto says being Team Principal - the day to day work has been draining on him so it looks like he wants to scale back on Team Brackley in some capacity. Bear in mind Mercedes will be also supplying McLaren engines next season
Besides Otmar is at Racing Point so he can do the day to day work
Also Merc will be keen to win Formula E as well which Toto is involved in as well. He said he will stay at Merc but not sure what role so these Ineos rumours do carry some weight
Toto Wolf may be Austrian however surely that is academic, Austria has always been almost Germany's left arm, not much different to those born in Kent or Sussex just a wobbly line drawn across a map. Ineos sponsors Mercedes, Ineos is owned buy a Brit who is domiciled in Switzerland, who knows what Mercedes Racing will end up as and the ownership of Aston Martin which used to be a more upper market Ferrari
