i have some sympathy with them as nobody said it would be easy, & these cars are now 250kg heavier than we have. but pirelli have now been in F1 i think for a year short that Bridgestone were before pirelli replaced them. the problem comes is that the problem teams were bringing up in 2011 about narrow range, thermal degradation which makes teams tell the drivers dont attack, drop back 3 secs to preserve the tyres, poor wet tyres, are still problems teams mentioning now in 2023. it doesnt seem like we have had any solutions in those 12 years

You're only hearing the teams views.
I'm saying that Pirelli are working to the FIA brief, and that may make the improvement the teams want impossible to achieve.

It's unreasonable to say Bridgestone or Goodyear or Michelin could do better. They all operated in a different era with different criteria.

its a good point that nothing is guaranteed & we do rarely hear from the pirelli themselves its normally the commentators as a spokesperson. but Bridgestone have still alot of racing knowledge in single seaters, i was just watching the indycar from road america & they've been supplying them for 23 years now. so they have single seater knowledge & not coming from a stand still.

of course their is physical degaradion but no thermal, so you can run as close as you want for as long as you want. but then the unknown is how would they cope with the extra downforce as they were 14 seconds slower than F1 at COTA compared
