My Melbourne report: Went out on my first run early in qualifying on options to put in a banker lap and topped the timesheets. This was beaten a few minutes later by Bushi in the Williams who after an impressive lap set a time 8 tenths faster despite being on primes and so held provisional pole. Being in the Red Bull I felt I had to put in a Vettel-esque last minute flyer and so patiently waited until the end session to go out again in clear air. Started my flying lap with literally 1 second left in the session and after a pretty good lap I crossed the line, finger in the air securing pole by a very close 0.028s. In the race, had a great start slightly pulling away from the grid with Bushi close behind. Unfortunately locked up my tyres under braking for turn 15 on the first lap running wide and giving Bushi the lead. I eventually got passed Bushi again due to my options v his primes but I could never pull away so we had good battle during the first few laps trading positions. Westy was having a solid drive in 3rd whilst an early retirement by Joss left him watching the race from the pit wall. After I pitted on lap 5 Bushi took advantage of the clear air putting in some fast laps so after he eventually pitted he came out around 6 seconds ahead of me, but on his outlap, after an inicident with a back marker into turn 3 (Hamilton's involvement was suspected) I was able to pass him and re-take the lead. We began our battle again, but 2 laps from the end Bushi had the run on me out of turn 5 so I went inside to defend but unfortunately hit an invisible wall on the edge of the track instantly destroying my car. So the race ended Bushi P1 and Westy P2. My crash looked like this:
