Beagle 2 Found

We used to be quite good in the space industry.

A vast number of engineers from Britain worked on the Apollo program. Britain put it's own satellite into low earth orbit using our own rocket in October 1971, and also became the first country to abandon that technology that very same week. Also, to this day we are among the world leaders in satellite manufacture. (which is ironic given the topic of this thread).

In October the first directly selected British astronaut (Tim Peake) will fly to the International Space station on behalf of the ESA.

Go Britain.
