I consider myself to be a non-conformist agnostic, which simply put, means I don't even acknowledge the possibility of there being a god to state that there is no god. The whole concept is alien to me. I remember fighting with my secondary school when I was 11/12? years old as I absolutely refused to take religious education classes. After being threatened with expulsion and various other punishments, they finally capitulated and allowed me to study other subjects in the school library during those classes.
If they believed in fairies I wouldn't write Fairies. My perspective is that there is neither a god nor any evidence of one.
Is there evidence of a god, any god? To turn the question around, those who believe in the usual god, how do you feel about those who worship the flying spaghetti monster?
I'm very strongly (if that's the right word) Atheist, but I would still write 'God' with a capital letter, because it is the name of the Christian god. Gods like Allah, Zeus, etc. should be written with a capital, as they are names, but the general term for a god shouldn't be. Hope that makes sense
Flying Spaghetti Monster - Hmmmmm! I honestly don't believe any more, was brought up to, but wasn't up to it. I think the people who believe deserve the respect of their convictions and Organised Religion deserves a good kicking, so I try to make sure I focus my commentary in these areas.
My beliefs are my own but I do try to have respect for all other beliefs/faiths, however bizarre - if all we actually have is the modern world then God help us
BTW, I'm out now A good rule of thumb on any forum is don't get involved in threads about religion or politics
It has nothing to do with respect. I don't believe in any deity, be it allah, buddha or whatever. If i insist on writing Science rather than science all it does is waste space and a key stroke. If anyone believes in a deity or deities then they are entitled to. I am more bothered by apostrophe misuse than people's religious sensitivities.
