Current Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Maybe he simply needed time away from the F1 environment to come to terms with racing at 200mph alongside a driver he no longer trusts. Vettel's record speaks for itself, the collision with Webber in Turkey, taking out Button at Spa. Just two of many. I watched a compilation of accidents he's caused last night, it lasted 8 minutes. Thats appalling for a multi World Champion. He needs to be trusted and he will have to earn that from Hamilton, which could take months, possibly years, maybe even never. Two of the races to come shortly have very real dangers, Spa and Monza, Hamilton will want to be as far away from Vettel as possible, especially at Spa.

Baku changed everything. Vettel's attitude went to a whole new level that won't have gone unnoticed by any of the drivers, especially those who have to race alongside him at the front of the grid.

Really? I thought Vettels record spoke for itself? Besides, why not take a break in the2 weeks between Baku and Austria without any major events to dodge and increase the personal attention?

Sorry, if you want to have a dig at Vettel, please do so, its open season after all.

But i woukd suggest that your connection is tenuous in the extreme.

We obviously have different opinions The Pits, thats fine and what forums are all about. I've always believed Vettel has often been unable to control his emotions. He's a reactionary driver who reacts without considering the consequences. In motor racing, especially at the top level thats very dangerous. If a driver let his emotions control his decision making in Indycar racing it's highly unlikely he'd stay alive for more than a season.

I Don't really understand what the hell Sebastian Vettel has to do with Lewis Hamilton not turning up for fans in London.

Me neither. Kind of my point. I blame him for brexit and global warming too. In for a penny and all that.

Meanwhile, back on subjects which are actually linked...

How many more potential pole sitters are in danger of grid penalties?

The Pits - I think Hamilton is safe this weekend, but am I correct in thinking that Bottas and Ricciardo are facing 5 place penalties? Hopefully, we will have an interesting quail session- so no-one is too disadvantaged!

It's simple Ras, I suspected Hamilton didn't much feel like socialising with F1 after his clash with Vettel at Baku. I was cutting him a little slack to give him time to clear his head. I also said in my first posting that I believed not attending London was a mistake and in hind site he would realise that and probably regret not being there. I just don't believe it's reason to crucify his entire character as some are doing. He's not perfect and I don't believe he pretends to be, but he has every right to feel very strongly about what happens on track.

Well at the request of people we should move on Kewee however I'll just end up with a story. I had an argument with a family member once and out of nowhere they threw a punch at me (missed!). However I still went to the Sunday Lunch my mum threw the following week because.... well.... it made my mum happy. I am not the sun and the whole world does not revolve around me.

Anyway let's move on.

No problem RasputinLives, enjoy qualifying and the GP. It's approaching midnight over here, I'm watching the Tour de France then I'll watch qualifying then switch over to Wimbledon for the Womens Final. I might even get some sleep after about 3 or 4 in the morning.....Yikes.:sleeping:
