If we go back to a one hour session, and I've suggested this before, pole is the average of the best 3 or 4 laps of each driver in the hour.
 
My suggestions are very simplistic.
Ban pit to car radio during the race, if there's something urgent (ie dangerous) that has to be conveyed let race control send the message. The bikes manage quite well without pit lane "advice".
Give each team a big box a x b x c, if the car fits in it and is safe to drive fine. Less regulation is more fun otherwise we'll never see the likes of the Tyrrell again.
Allow each team a set number of tyres each year, which tyre they use when is up to them & if a driver is skilled enough to do the whole race on one set then don't let them be penalised by forced pitting.

None of our suggestions of course will be considered by the powers that be, it's just a cunning plan to make the fans feel more interactive.
 
New design rules - you can do anything you want as long as the car is within certain size dimensions and passes crash safety tests.
