Cycling

Well I thought that the ride was sluggish, and looked down. Sure enough the air was seeping out by the rim quite fast, but the tire didn't burp so all the air didn't leave instantly thankfully.

I don't know whether to try and redo the rear tire tomorrow or just go back to tubes. I don't know if I would trust them considering it's a bodge-job.

About the same distance as my ride today give or take a few k's. Got distracted by some blokes with RC planes so I stopped for a watch. And some donkeys. And I had to startle some peeps in a hedge too.

Only got 26 miles today, 17.5 mph avg. Bike is in desperate need of a service, but modern bikes require too many specialist tools. BB needs replacing, and need a new chain, along with a good clean, but a BB tool is around a tenner, and a chain tool is around the same, thats before you even buy the bits.

I will have to put up with the thing sounding like a bag of spanners for a few weeks.

Has anyone used the bike2workscheme.co.uk to buy their bike? It looks to good to be true. I can save 32% off a £900 bike if bought through my work. And it saves my employer money on my NI payments.

Is that correct ?

It's a very good scheme if it works for you, you can use it for kit too. I haven't used it though.
I think stores will not do any deals, everything is calculated from list price. Speak to your HR or payroll and they'll confirm/clarify.

He had to work hard for it, too! The long way round that RadioShack rider in the last 100 and no lead out for the last KM, he is epic.

I did Le 6 bourgeois yesterday, a cyclosportive in Calais, 140 km. Lots of wind and hills (1800m of ascension).
After the battlefield of the first 2 hills (with crosswind) I found myself in a group of about 25 riders, in which time and again one dropped out of. Four guys rode away with 60-65 km to go. With about 30 km to go an english bloke attacked. I was thinking "mah, way to far to the finish, he's never gonna make it", but he did. With 20 km to go the group was down to 6 and cooperation was bad, so I attacked and got 2 with me.
Finished 55th, which is about halfway.
Completely knackered, the wind was terrible.
