Things ... Welcome to the Future (2018 - 2019 Silly Season)

Toro - Hartley is out for sure - nothing about him fits Red Bull's image , Kyvat story - lets see if they will announce his return in Sochi.

Vandoorne - at 27 years old he's the wrong side for Red Bull to give a career restart

Wehrlein was rumoured to replace Hartley . Gonna need some convincing that he aint some arrogant fool that annoys everyone

Albon - I can't understand why this guy is not getting a mention because he's been amongst the top 3 drivers all season in F2

Ocon - pretty much Toto desperately wants this guy to win for Mercedes so aint going Toro Rosso for sure

Publius Cornelius Scipio Kimi is rich enough already so certainly does not need the money for sure. Then again Ferrari did once stupidly pay him $50m a year to race and $28m to not race. He has got a good management team for sure but only Ferrari were mugs enough to flush money down the toilet

I 'd very much doubt Sauber would offer Kimi say $500,000 for every point scored seeing last time he signed that sort of contract he walked out because his employers ( Lotus or Genii) were not paying him on time

I shouldn’t be at all surprised if Alfa Romeo (read Ferrari) are paying for Raikkonen’s contract. Kimi is the last driver to win a WDC for the prancing horse, so it might be in their interest to keep reminding people that they are a championship winning outfit, and not a Mickey Mouse outfit!

Alfa Romeo and Ferrari are two separate things now, they used to be run by the same man but now that has changed, Alfa Romeo might well be sold together with the rest of FCA while Ferrari will remain in the Agnelli family. I guess that both Kimi and Giovinazzi are paid by Ferrari but I haven't seen anything on this subject. Considering the post-Marchionne world I'd also love to know what is the relationship between Sauber and Ferrari. Anyway I'm sure that Kimi will bring some good points to Sauber, I'm not holding my breath for Giovinazzi but I hope that I will be proven wrong.

I have lost all faith in Kimi, despite rooting for him for a decade or more. I am not sure what he will do at Sauber, but I am not expecting miracles. Kimi, nearing end of his racing days is showing himself in different light from one I used to idealize him. Frédéric Vasseur's had his hands probably really twisted, because I do not believe for a minute that he is happy to have Kimi on-board. (Probably it was shotgun marriage.)

Well Buemi getting a seat fitting was a hoax then. Looks like the boat has sailed for the moose

Albon - perhaps he realises he staying another season in F2 does not guarantee an F1 seat and use the Dams link to get into FE

Perhaps a backdoor entry into F1 using the Nissan/Renault links but he would be I suspect up against Jack Aitken to get the Renault seat for 2020 along with Hulkenberg

So it makes Wehrlein to Toro Rosso more likely I think

Apparently Vandoorne has been offered a drive in IndyCar for nect season with Dale Coyne Racing. I'd say that makes him less likely for Toro Rosso to some degree. I am with ll_leone I think Wehrlein will end up with Kvyat there.

Vandoorne is right now got very little credibility in F1 so I am not sure who would take the plunge to hire him if Frederic Vasseur his old boss is tied to the fact he either has to hire a Ferrari backed driver or Ericsson because of the team sponsors

I don;t think Williams will take him on unless he brings in a lot of sponsorship

struggle to place this but there has been a lot of chat about them on here. so I thought id place it here & who knew 24 years later we have dejavu. because we have a british/german title fight & brit is concerned publically that the german called Schumacher recent form. might not be fairly

Ticktum questions Schumacher’s recent F3 dominance

Dan Ticktum has expressed doubts about Formula 3 European Championship title rival Mick Schumacher's recent upturn in form dominated European F3 in the last 2 rounds at Nurburgring & Red Bull Ring, taking 6 poles in a row and winning 5 of them. but denied he is suggesting he is driving an illegal car

"it's hard to fight someone on equal terms who's last name is Schumacher"

Tin Foil hat for Mr Ticktum.......or is it? He might have a point but the again he might not. He is notoriously a sore loser. Maybe he'll try and bash him off the track under safety car next time out.

what a sore loser Ticktum is, sadly he has a notorius record on the subject, and if he feels that 2 Prema cars are different from the others why doesn't he says what is such difference? Wouldn't it just be easier to say that in the final stages on the season he has disappeared and has been rattled not only by Schumacher but also by other drivers? What a bad sport this guy is, he has the full backing of the might Red Bull army and complians about others...

Personally, i’m very dubious about Ticktum... he should never have been allowed back into a racing car, let alone be a Red Bull protege. Frankly, Mick Schumacher’s form has been scintillating- it seems to me that he’s basically got on top of the cars and how to set them up- and now he is reaping the rewards!

I don't how what Helmut's expectations are of Ticktum but usually drivers backed by Red Bull are expected to win titles in which ever championship they enter and those who fail get unceremoniously dumped just ask Felix Da Costa

So to ascribe the blame that Schumacher is driving an illegal car .... well

the pressure on Red Bull's young drivers must be immense, maybe that can explain Ticktum's frustration, the second half of the season has a been a bit of a disaster for him, starting exactly when Dr Marko has started making noises that Ticktum must earn his superlicence (I find the plan to have him race down under a bit bonkers, the guy is under pressure and his masters put him under further pressure, that doesn't look smart).
