Renault launch is on. They expect to be first in the championship because they designed the car themselves.

Aww bless.

Edit.
Mr Prost has joined them on the committee. Interesting.

What is that tall yellow structure behind the driver ? I don't think I like the car, but I have a bit of a thing about predominately yellow cars.
It looks better on Planet F1. The side view shows the strange structure for what it is. But it is very half and half in colouring, back half black, front half YELLOW, very, very yellow.

Shark fin has to be because the rear wing is now lower than the airbox. Needed to stabilise the air over the rear wing. So I would be surprised if they don't all have one.

Worth repeating the entire quote because of course that leaves open the possibility that one or two out there cleverer than the rest will have come with an entirely different approach to the problem (a la double-diffuser) and be a second quicker than everybody else from the start.

Damn. Just as I started celebrating because there are no halos, someone has to ruin it by bringing back shark fins. I don't care about airflow. Ban them, and everyone can put up with crap airflow over the rear wing. What does it matter if everyone's airflow is crap?

Given that the engine has a turbo rendering the original function of the air box unnecessary I still wonder why a team hasn't tried a mid 80's style roll hoop with a low back to the car. They could place the air intakes for the cooling of the ERS system and whatever else they use the air box for now, either side of the drivers head as in the Lotus 78.
