Current Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

So as a starter for ten, here is a fairly recent LH article. Posts should not be limited to this link but it can get some discussion going. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13755883.stm

The only banned topic as it is clearly ridiculous involves these four things "Glock" "2008" "Brazil" "conspiracy"

Bridge refused to shake Terry's hand 'cos Terry is a royal deceitful twat blah blah blah.

Not gushing/ fantasising over Hamilton and not thinking he is the greatest role model, racer, musician, bizarre earring bleach waistcoat tattoo sporting fashion icon, does not make those marmite 'haters'.

 Oh dear Oh dear.

But thank you for putting me right regarding Bridges.

In that case RasputinLives, this 'royal deceitful twat' will retract the hand. And if statements are made that aren't backed up by facts expect that they may be challenged.

I clearly haven't put you right at all. I wasn't calling you a deceitful twat racecub. Neither is Rasputinlives. I don't like John Terry.

Lewis spends a lot of time stateside now days and it got me wondering whether now he's a 3 time world champion he might fancy taking a pop at Indy Car. Having already won the Monaco Grand Prix it would be cool to watch him go for the Indy 500 and the Le Mans 24 hour over the next 5 years.

He's still the right age and he certainly has the talent. I imagine he'd be a huge pull for Indy Cars and it would probably suit him down the ground.

And I didn't call anyone a 'hater' that was Hamberg on her usual personal rant.

Hamilton always brings out Opposite response in people. The marmite driver.

And the marmite slogan is.....

RasputinLives I don't know about Indy but I seem to recall the question of Le Mans was put to him sometime at the back end of last year, and he was quite adamant that he had absolutely no interest in it,

Then again neither did Button a few years ago and he seems to have changed his mind about it since.

Hamiton though did express a strong interest in trying his hand at Nascar one day.

That's a shame I'd love to see him try his hand at it. I can just see him doing the night shift, taking more risks than anyone else and holding a big lead by morning.

I didn't coin the phrase Hamberg. It's out there, been around forever. Try googling it.
Here's a couple to get you started

Lew’s victory toast

The term is generally used to explain the wide range of reactions in people to Hamilton from ....His adoring fans that love him for his driving

Through those more interested in ...." musician, bizarre earring bleach waistcoat tattoo sporting fashion icon"

To those who say "I like Lewis but..... musician, bizarre earring bleach waistcoat tattoo sporting fashion icon"

And then there are the ones who dislike the fact he has so many loyal adoring fans. For some reason that gripes a lot.

My point was, whichever emotion Hamilton arouses in us, there's no reason why we can't go forward enjoying F1 in a civilised fashion without becoming personal. Clearly I was labouring under a misapprehension.

Has there ever been any black drivers in NASCAR? Just going back to the Trump thread I can't imagine the demographic who watch NASCAR would appreciate their hero's being beaten by a black man. Maybe it would change the people who come to watch that form of racing, Lewis is certainly popular in the US.

FB Willy T Ribbs competed in NASCAR. I think there must have been a handful of others because he was a bit of a loose cannon and drew critism from other black drivers who felt he wasn't a very good role model for black people in the US because of his explosive temper. He got suspended a few times for punching rivals after making them aolely responsible for collisions he was involved in.

Then again personally I always thought the idea that any professional sportsmen should be role models is for anybody a load of baloney.
