Current Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE

A place to put all the posts from all the other threads primarily but love him or hate him, and even for the indifferent amongst us this is the place to discuss the marmite that is Lewis Hamilton, to learn a thing or two about his rise, talk about those controversial, genius or mad moments and something that i am bemused by, the recent articles that suggest something quite different to my perception of what's going on. Any experiences of meeting LH?

Brundle had to write a Lewis Hamilton article recently and in my tweets (which were probably ignored) I asked him to talk about LH the driver not LH the personality. It seems that you can't have one without the other.

If a person can't come onto a thread and make a noteworthy comment then what the **** is a forum meant to be about..?

I'll rephrase my question again so as the more sensitive souls do not get offended.

Does anyone think Lewis is starting in a very subtle way so as not to be overly aggressive or rude to his best mate Nico who he obviously does not want to offend or detract from his squeaky clean image to play an extremely low key mind game regarding helping his chances of winning a second WDC.

No offence meant to anyone especially not to Lewis who is a fine man and an even better racer and I humbly apologize for bringing the subject up and accept that I must be punished for asking the question in the first place, that goes without saying, of course I am prepared to be thrashed to within an inch of my life and quite rightly so...

Mis-truths, unfounded speculation and character assassinations will attract such repost. You cannot expect less. You don't need to even be a Hamilton fan to want to step to his defense against such ridiculous malice and vitriol.. That you are in a minority of one should perhaps encourage you to question your own judgement.

Mephistopheles I don't think Hamilton's playing subtle mind games with Rosberg, they've raced together for so long that they'd know exactly how to push each other's buttons without any need for subtlety. They don't need to resort to mind games due to the simple fact that they each believe that they're a better driver than the other.

Rosberg is leading the Championship and based on his post race comments believes he's better than Hamilton. Hamilton's won a World Championship and out of the 3 GPs so far this year, 2 poles and 2 wins. Why would he bother with mind games when he believes he can beat Rosberg at his best on the track?

If Nico truly believes that he is better than Lewis, because that he's leading the championship, is one of the reasons. A reality check on his part maybe needed, because who knows where Hamilton would stand in the championship now if he didn't have engine failure after 3 or 4 laps. at Australia.
 
Lewywo4 Whether or not Nico is actually better than Hamilton, I think he has to have the mentality that he is better, particularly this season as they're in the title favourite car. There wouldn't be much point in drivers turning up if they didn't think they were better than the other drivers around them
 
Every racing driver does not think they are the quickest. Every racing driver aspires to be the quickest. Every worthy racing driver hopes and believes that they have the potential to be the quickest. Those that have the potential and don't believe it never will be. Those that have the potential and do believe it might just be.
 
He is wrong and would surely admit it if challenged on it. Half of my friends are racing drivers and all of them know that somebody is quicker than them. That is why they turn up to race every weekend, to work on their goal of being the quickest.
 
I wouldn't subscribe to that either. Jenson, amongst others for example, have admitted that they are not the quickest. Being the quickest is something every racing driver aspires to but few have an unshakeable belief that this is the truth.

This is an interesting article about the relationship between Ron Dennis and Ayrton Senna. Talking about similarities between Senna's and Hamilton's exit from McLaren Dennis makes it clear that it was a Mercedes fuel pump failure (not a McLaren part) that drove Hamilton to leave McLaren at Singapore 2012. I wonder if Hamilton knew this, either way with McLaren's relative form since he left I doubt he'd be bothered now.
 
I'm fairly certain that if you asked Lewis why he left McLaren he wouldn't answer "Because of that frickin fuel pump man," be it a McLaren part or not.....

At that point he had spent years at McLaren and had just one title to show for it. Hamilton had been fighting for the title, the midway point had been and gone, back to his best he was taking the fight to Red Bull while Button was struggling. Yet reliability issues and numerous operational mistakes from the team had scuppered him. Finally leading in Singapore with his challenge back on track and real momentum behind him what happens, his McLaren rolls to a stop.

I think that was the final straw for him. The announcement of Perez came after that race which ties in. You're right in that Hamilton wouldn't answer a fuel pump, he would probably cite McLaren's lack of aptitude which was shown again in Singapore. Only the irony is that it was a part supplied by his new team.
