Jenson Button

Arguably the best ever driver in mixed conditions, all his wins at Mclaren have come in those conditions. His last race win in the dry came at the 2009 Turkish GP.

Button is known for his smooth driving style and is normally seen in must races doing one less stop than his rivals for tyres.

Buttons also know to be a bit of a practical joker and will take part in anything fun.

Since his debut in 2000 Button has won the majority of hearts in this country. But what is your favourite JB win?

Mine has to be Hungaroring 2006, in argubly a midfield team and he won the race in those mixed conditions to take his first win. I can remember James Allen been in tears almost and that was the first race Anthony Davidson ever commentated on.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least to see Jenson either being ousted out of or just leaving McLaren at the end of the season and to my mind it wouldn't be a bad thing if he did leave either to retire or to go to another team because lets face it McLaren are doing **** all for his career and will continue doing **** all for any driver who is stupid enough to sign up to them.

It is time for Jenson to find pastures new because McLaren are just not up to the job of catering for his talent, and I know he will have no problem finding another team to drive for if that is what he wants, he has been in demand from team owners throughout his long career and lets face it not many drivers can say that and so I say this to you Don Ron either buck your ideas up or face loosing another top notch driver and then you will be left with a couple of novice drivers, which isn't really part of the McLaren ethos is it....?

Whatever Jenson chooses to do is fine by me he is a great racing driver and a genuine person as are we all here in the west country..

Well except for Amelia Dyer but we disowned her....

I can't see him fitting in at Ferrari though. I don't think he's, how can i put this politely, as demanding as Alonso or Schumacher and he's certainly no Massa or Barrichello puppet figure. Not sure where he would go that could be seen as at the least a sideways step?

Vettel would fit in at Ferrari but then I think RB would look to their YDP for replacement given Ricciardo so far he proving he can perform.

McLaren are looking way better than last year.

Depends on the context of next year's cars, but the Honda engine could possibly be a stinker.

I think Button would fit in extremely well back at Williams, but I also believe a personality as mature as Button's can be the passport to success at any given team.

Kewee - All I'm saying is that it's difficult to know what is a step up or down when McLaren have such a variable position because of the engine regs.

I call it the Hulkenburg rule.

I reckon Honda will want Button involved, he's got appeal in Japan, and they know how to work with him.

I agree teabagyokel - I think Honda would be keen to renew their partnership with Jenson, particularly given his popularity in parts Nippon and his history with them to date (only man to win in a works Honda since the 60s). After that, who knows? I expect even he hasn't looked that far ahead.

Ron has already ousted one of MW's driver choices, Jenson will need to have a stellar season to keep his seat at McLaren in 2015 especially as Ron has already made sounds about getting Alonso back. Given the way Ferrari are going this year perhaps a job swap is on the cards? The last Englishman to drive for Ferrari endeared himself to the Tifosi, if JB were to win some races for them he would be very popular indeed.

teabagyokel ....... I hadn't thought of the Japanese connection with Jenson. Your right of course, they will want his involvement. I've been concerned about how committed Ron Dennis will be to Jenson since he took control of the team again, Hopefully Honda's involvement will force his hand and provide Jenson with the security he deserves. I also hope they'll leave him alone so he can retain his individuality, corporate McLaren like their drivers to fit their mould, no facial hair etc. Look back at photo's of Alonso during his stint at McLaren and you'll see what I mean. It didn't take long for the bohemian Alonso to reappear once he was free again, all for the best as far as I'm concerned. As I say I hope Ron Dennis allows Jenson to be Jenson.

I don't think Ron Dennis is a JB fan. He refused point blank to have him on the team some years back. So I don't see it going well.

Just as I said, Ron's only been back in charge 5 minutes and Jenson's had a haircut and the beard's gone. Why can't Mr Dennis let people be themselves. I detest people who wield that sort of power. Jenson's 34 years old with enough class and intelligence to make his own choices regarding his grooming and appearance. :(

Well of course Kewee it might have been JB's choice to go for a new look, we don't know that it was Ron's authority stamped on the decision.

Oh yes I agree, I also agree he probably had something to do with it. But I felt I had to point out that we don't actually know for sure.
:D
