With 5 red lights going out, yes, but what commentary Phrase?
The options:
Murray Walker- Go Go Go
James Allen- Murray esque Go
Martin Brundle- Look but never stare
Charlie Cox (MotoGP)- Revs are up
Jon Legard- We're underway at...

Pick your favourite and feel free to suggest anymore!

Go! Go! Go!

No doubt, it was just the release of excitement in its most raw. Not the Allen scripted rubbish.

I don't mind Brundle's pre-prepared one liners and Legard's "We're underway" wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't repeated ad nauseum.

Jonathon Legard: "And...WE ARE AWAY!!!!"

Murray's "Go Go Go" was legendary, but was overused, James Allen tried to copy his style, quite like the "Look but never stare" from Brundle.

As much as I like Charlie Cox's Revs are up (yes, really!) I would have to go with GO! GO! GO!

"green means go!"

Leaving aside the factual inaccuracy, that would be my choice ;)

Don't like Brundles which is almost an anti climax. Allen and Walker were both better at this moment. Legard... Boring. None of the above? "and they're off!" Is good enough for a horse race...? Something new please?

There were so many jump starts back then!!
And is it me, or are American commentators so much worse than British ones?

There were so many jump starts back then!!

And I don't even think the term "Jump Start" does justice to what we commonly saw in the mid to late 70's where it would be more accurate to say they made a "Rolling Start".

I believe they were quite lenient due to the fact that they would rather not have 3-4 cars stalling on the grid, because as you can see, there was usually at least one staller even with the lax regulations.

I'm suprised nobody built up a crescendo, that's my new style!
If I were to pair them up it would be:
Murray and Martin
Cox and Allen
and possibly Crofty and Legard on Radio
Lead commentator listed 1st analyst 2nd

I have to confess that, leaving Murray aside, my preferred way to appreciate the start, thanks to the BBC red button options, is switch to 'no commentary', crank up the volume and let the engines do the shouting.
