2020 Silly Season

Yes, what you would call pants we would usually call trousers, what we call pants, you would usually call underwear. We do also say underwear sometimes but it gets more complicated if you start getting into that and waaaaay off topic too.
You rarely hear the word trousers used over here....and then there are the “unmentionables.”

How did they find out? Is this an inspectable item?

This is a very good question! Do all drivers have to strip off for the stewards afterwards?

Oh and Ruslan on the subject of UK/US different meanings I don't think you'll find a single Brit who won't let out a titter when you guys call them Fanny Packs.

I am sure there is a guy specifically assigned to check this. One can only imagine what his future career prospects are.

OK....I'll bite....what do you think a fanny pack is?

Ruslan - over here fanny is slang for the female genitalia. We know you guys use it for behind but for whatever reason it makes us giggle

Not joking Angel just exaggeration. He only got a fine and penalty points for wearing the wrong pants not a DQ.

I liked the fact it was a 'brief statement' you couldn't make it up!! I know they're supposed to be flame retardant and so on but as Ruslan said how did they even know what he was wearing wasn't the exact right thing?

As F1Brits_90 said, I'm pretty sure what you call a fanny pack we call a bum bag. They went entirely out of fashion here but lately I've started to see a few reappearing. Mostly from dog walkers who keep their doggy doings bags in them it seems.

oh yeah Angel don't ask I don't get the bum bags thing either. people have been laughed at for wearing them but now its cool. im glad ive never been interested in fashion. just seems a lot of bandwagon jumping

although I take a nieces home few weeks ago & thought I get the opinion, whats the crack. saying how bumbags that have been ridiculed for decades are now cool if you where wear them over shoulder. turns I stuck my foot in it as they went quiet & turns out they had 1  LOL

Ooops F1Brits_90. The only time I'm in fashion is when what I like to wear comes round to being in fashion again (everything does eventually).

I have twice now seen this story about Vettel going back to Red Bull and several people have been linked with his seat at Ferrari if he does. So far it's Alonso, Ricciardo and Verstappen that I've seen as suggestions, I am sure there will be more unless this story is quashed.

Journalists need something to write about. Vettel will never go back to Red Bull with Verstappen there, Verstappen will never go to Merc with Hamilton there, Hamilton is going nowhere. Verstappen is not going to go for Ferrari in the state they are in at the min. Ferrari will never take Alonso back despite the hints he keeps dropping in the media. I'm sure if there was a seat available Ricciardo and Ferrari would be mutually interested but right now there isn't......unless Vettel retires, which he has announced he is not doing. Although if you have to announce it then you probably are.

I know it's called silly season for a reason and I personally don't think Vettel would go back to Red Bull either, for one thing I'm not sure they'd want him given their image is supposed to be young and dynamic etc. Thing is just shows you how these things start and idle speculation carries them on, including more and more people along the way in a story which has little to no basis to begin with.

I'm expecting the silly season to be extra silly this year as I don't think we'll see any driver line up changes worth talking about. Certainly not at the front. Because of this all those click bait journalists will have to make some stuff up. James Allen will recycle that "Perez to Renault" story he runs every year for sure.

im not sure i think verstappen not afraid of the challenge. & would relish it it wouldn't be the 1st time he defied the odds.

16 too young to drive in FP1
take F2 at 17. develop more
have a 2nd yr at toro rosso
struggle to beat Riccardo
you cant win from 8th last week

Exactly.

1. At Mercedes it will be Hamilton and either Bottas and Ocon until Hamilton retires (which I gather may be in 1 to 4 years).
2. At Ferrari it will be Vettel and Leclerc until Vettel retires (which may be sooner than Hamilton).
3. At Red Bull It will be Verstappen and unhappy #2 driver forever.

These teams all have their #1 driver and the track record of two #1 drivers sharing a team is not good. If Ricciardo keeps outperforming Hulkenberg, then DR may become the defacto #1 there and contractually secured for several years.

The interesting window is three or four years out, then Hamilton and Vettel are "aging out" and the budget cap has been in place for a couple of years (disadvantaging Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull)......
