I wouldve voted 6.5. but I went 7 because I kind of enjoyed that grand prix. I still have enthuseum for 2019. which I couldnt say after the last 3 Australian gps. which have been awful & 1 of worst of the season

If today is the Bottas we will see till the end of the season then he will become a factor in the championship along with the two Ferrari's and Verstappen

LeClerc words made it clear post race he will not be No 2 to Vettel even though team orders were implied. Vettel's pre season optimism might have just been blown to smithereens after today's race

Verstappen will be glad that he got on the podium and ahead of Ferrari which also is an important boost for Honda

Renault - not a great week for them but Hulkenberg salvaged some good points

Mclaren - there is still a lot work to do but Norris ' performances will make the rest of the grid sit up and take note

Williams - :teary: is probably what people are feeling right now especially for Kubica who suffered wing damage

Well Leclerc clearly is no.2. To be forced to hold station in only the first race where he had a clear advantage over his teammate is really disappointing. Also putting him on the hard tyres seemed an odd decision (though ultimately made no difference). Almost as if Ferrari wanted to make sure he didn't get fastest lap.

Max was looking good though - impressive, apart from the off.

Great result for both Magnussen and Kimi too.

Presumably Leclerc had no new softs otherwise Ferrari could have pulled him in for a dash for fastest lap and the extra point. It would also have saved face over him dropping back to avoid overtaking Vettel.

Why do Mercedes keep shooting themselves in the foot with the media:

Within hours of the race, they announce floor damage that explained LH’s poor pace compared with Bottas. The perception is that whenever anything goes wrong for LH, then the team will find an excuse, whilst if anything goes wrong with Bottas, there’s not the same excuse coming...

Mercedes obliterating the opposition: bad. Team orders at Ferrari this early: bad. Ricciardo losing his cool: bad. Kubica looking like a shadow of his former self: bad. Honda in the podium: good. Raikkonen and Stroll getting points on their first race with their new teams: good. Australia honouring the victims of the New Zealand terrorist attack: good.

This will not go down as the worst race of the season. Bottas drove sublimely and deserves absolute credit for the way he controlled the race.

It is clear that cars can now drive a lot closer together without destroying their tyres however that makes no difference when, apart from cars out of position, the performance differential is such that they can't get by anyway.

A just above average race. 6.

I will say that LeClerc needs to show similar pace today.. I think Ferrari were just massaging Vettel's ego ..for NOW. Were LeClerc to continue showing that he is as quick or even quicker than Vettel .. someone at Maranello will have to seriously thinking whether the baton needs to be handed over

Today's result was not good news for Vettel - i) Comprehensively thrashed by Mercedes, ii) Overtaken and thrashed by Verstappen iii) No pace - his fastest lap was slower by 1 second to LeClerc and more than 1.5 seconds slower than either Mercedes and Verstappen,

the only saving graces were it was Bottas who won not Hamilton but that might not be good news long term and LeClerc was told to hold station but again he was close to his pace

Ferrari have potentially cost themselves at least 1 pt maybe even 3pts for backing the wrong driver in today's race

I gave it a 6, not the most exciting race and yet it could have been worse.

Seb and Ferrari must be wondering what on earth happened, after testing they were no doubt feeling really good about this season, after this first race they see they have a mountain to climb.

Great drive by Bottas, he deserved that win. Good drive by Max too, Honda must be thrilled. Kubica looked sad tootling round at the back the way he was compared to last time we saw him in an F1 car.

Leclerc on hard tyres was significantly faster than Vettel on the medium ones as Vettel was struggling with his car, IMHO putting Leclerc on the hard tyres was the right move and after that he managed to close the gap from Vettel whereas before Vettel's pit stop he was losing ground with respect to his team mate.

What a steaming turd.

Things I thought about during the race:

-- Mclaren are sponsored by Huski Chocolate. I eat a lot of chocolate and never seen it so I'm assuming it's dog chocolate for after they've had a hard day pulling the sled

- Who invented Tomato Ketchup?

- Are David Crofts 'interesting' facts in his head or does he write then in a notebook?

- Kimi is 20 years older than Norris. Old enough to be his dad. I don't think he is his dad but a father and son racing against each other would be cool

- When is Hamilton going to start moaning about strategy?......oh there we go

- I'm glad I didn't get up for this

- why are baseball caps standard wear in F1? Why not sport a sponsored Panama hat or something?
