Pre-Season 2018-2019 Winter testing and car launches

The problem is that there are 4 types of team dynamics when you have at least one top class driver and only one of them is guaranteed to work.

Dynamic 1) Two great drivers (let 'em race). E.g. Rosberg / Hamilton, Senna v Prost (1988), Fittipaldi v Peterson (1973). Great for the fans but almost always leads to inter team friction which results in meltdowns and walkouts.

Dynamic 2) Two great drivers (Love one more than the other) E.G. Prost v Senna (1989). Total meltdown is almost guaranteed.

Dynamic 3) One great driver, One young gun E.G Danny and Seb, Max and Danny or Alonso and Hamilton. The great driver feels very unloved and usually walks.

Dynamic 4) One great driver and his dog Spot. E.G. Hamilton and Bottas, Hamilton and Kovi, Schumacher and everyone. This is only dynamic that is proven to work.

All I'll say is, Ferrari are guaranteed to bugger it all up next season.

Well as Rory Reid put back in September. Vettel leaving ferrari & Lewis hamilton joining ferrari in 2020 doesnt seem so ludicrous

But i hope we get a some rivalry some anger as gives it a edge. As from British point of view F1 needs a strong year next year we need more last 4 races than 1st 4 races. (Which i still state Australia worst race of season) because afford on pure pay tv seasons like we have had in 2011 2013 2015 & 2016 this decade

cider_and_toast Your theory is only based for top teams line up I presume Ferrari in Dynamic 3 rather than Dynamic 4 next season which Seb is trying to play down but then again last year when he was sat with Ricciardo and Verstappen either side of him after quali or practice he mentioned future teammates being either Le Clerc or Giovinazzi so be careful what you wish for Seb

Ferrari this season strangely had a hybrid of dynamic 1, 3 and 4 at times . The only difference is despite his position int the champion for Ferrari or more probably Arrivabene seems to love Kimi more than Seb.

In which case usually the engineers get the sack before Arrivabene and Vettel who is going to feel awkward if Le Clerc is on it from the beginning

On the other hand their are some exceptions.....Lauda/Prost comes to mind. More recently Hamilton/Button. Also Fangio/Moss, Clark/Hill, Gurney/Brabham, Brabham/Hulme, Hill/von Trips. I can probably think of a few others if I take the time

It may help Ruslan if one of the drivers knows how he rates against the driver that he most admires e.g. Buton said that he wanted to drive with Hamilton to see how he matched up to the best current driver.

Well, they were both world champions and were teammates for three years, and with no drama. So it can be done.

Lauda and Prost were also on the same team for two years. After that Prost and Rosberg were on the same team for a year. Prost later had lot of drama with one of his teammates, but he had already been a teammate with two other world champions without drama.

Hamilton/Button?? There was drama all over the shop. Button trying to overtake when they'd been told to hold station, collision in Canada, Hamilton saying be was forced out etc. This a lovely thread on here called Hamilton Vs Button which details it all including allergations of racism, nepotism and conspiracy.

Also they weren't a successful partnership because McLaren won nothing when they had them both.

yes that is Hamilton only weakness which doesnt bode well for anyone but bottas (& unless he has a huge improvement I doubt it) that if he feels his teammate is on a par or better then he can go slightly mad under the pressure. as proven in 2012 as it was the 1st time he been pushed by a teammate as he only finished 2pts ahead of button with 4 wins to 3 & 7 podiums to 6 by the end. but as proved in 2017 & 2018 it only works within a teammate & not outside

anyway on the 4 dynamics, as fans we all want number 1 as that would be brilliantly viewing & why even though they were both boring at times. give me Mercedes dominance over red bull & Ferrari dominance because dynamic 4 unless you have 3 teams on a par can be bad at least we still had 2 competive drivers going for the title. instead of Schumacher & vettel making it race over by the 3rd corner.

but I really looking forward to this season even if I annually have so much optimism then Australia happens & that goes by the end. as Hamilton Vettel Leclerc & Verstappen going for the title could be epic

From what I can tell, Hamilton only gets along with his team mate when he's beating them, but when he's not..... Alonso seemed to be much the same to be fair.

As for Vettel and Leclerc, part of me is really excited and part of me is dreading it. It's going to be an interesting first few races to see how they get on.

Your greatest enemy in F1 is usually your teammate because that is the benchmark to be always compared against if all others are disregarded such as rubbish car, rubbish engine , political interference from the FIA president even

If you want to be the best then you've got to beat the rest

Agreed Angel it will be interesting to see how the Vettel / LeClerc dynamic works out on and off track. Same with Ric v Hulk. For all the hype (and the anti-Vettel brigade) I can't see LeClerc actually beating Vettel over the season... Prediction to come on the other thread.

That is very true, but I read that last line and now all I can hear in my head is Roy Castle singing the Record Breakers theme tune!!

We have a launch date from McLaren.
Feb 14th a whopping 4 days before the first test.
