They'll employ anyone who appears on the patented Williams Driver Recruitment Venn Diagram.

Wolff tried to make them take Wherlein pre-season so not surprised he is trying to make them take him now.

I Don't think they want him though!

I'd be genuinely interested to see them have a punt on Kubica; I think Wehrlein has some potential. Massa's time is clearly up, while I wouldn't give a seat in the grandstands to di Resta.

The right people for Williams are now already signed up for other teams. Mostly Renault.

I’m sure Lawrence could still buy his way into the team.
F1 hasn’t seen father and son as teammates before so why not or buy his sister a seat, brother and sister that would also be unique.

It doesn’t really matter who the Strolls employ anyway.

Are they changing their name for next season? Stroll Martini Racing or would that be to obvious?

I watched the documentary, some decent soul uploaded it to YouTube, not really worth the time let alone the money.

Rutherford if you were in charge at Williams - given the current driver market and the fact Williams don't want to run a rookie - who would you put in the second seat?

BBC report that Williams seat is between Kubica and Massa

Robert Kubica: Williams to give Polish driver two days of testing

(The nasty evil Stroll's have apparently forgot to be nasty or evil and ban Kubica from testing this time)

However Planet F1 are reporting it's a shoot out for the seat between Kubica and Di Resta - with Massa potentially being signed if they are both crap.

Sky F1 are reporting that Di Resta has already signed for Williams and will be a championship contender next season ;)

So it still comes down to:

Way past his best

or

Would have been the best but for a serious injury

and

Never been anywhere near the best

Hmmmmm some choice.

I asked Rutherford the question so I'll stick it out for everyone else. You're managing Williams. You can't hire a rookie and you can't buy out anyone's contract from somewhere else at the moment. Who do you put in that 2nd seat?

Kubica. It's good PR and he's clearly able to drive the car even though he's not going to be able to drive at 100%. I would then look to sign the best third driver I could find to act as back up.

Looking at the report on the BBC Website it would appear that Di Resta is only being used as a benchmark for Kubica. The choice appears to be between Kubica and Massa but at the test, Kubica will run against William's current reserve driver to benchmark his performance. It appears that while Di Resta has an outside chance of the seat it has come down to a choice between the current incumbent and Kubica.

Sorry, but I don't want to see Kubica in the seat.
He can't perform at his best; all he'll do is tarnish great memories.
I'd rather see Maldo in there (although Buemi isn't a bad idea).
Maybe even Kyvat in a different environment may come to shine again - he wasn't that bad for a while and I suspect his poor performances are partly down to knowing the team (RB and TR) don't want him around.

Buemi or Vergne would both be excellent shouts from the fringe (or Formula E).

Kubica is a possibility but he'd have to do more than beat di Resta to prove his worth. I'd be benchmarking him against Massa to ensure there is a point to having the actual test.

Otherwise, I wouldn't be too hasty in sticking my nose up where Wehrlein is concerned.
