Poll 2017 Russian Grand Prix Out Of Ten

How did you rate the 2017 Russian GP out of Ten

  • Total voters

Gave it a generous 2 for a little excitement towards the end, but it were rubbish really. It's a bit of a bugger when the only overtake I saw (excluding the 1st lap) was Alonso overtaking his mechanics on his way back through the pits!

Overtakings is very important for emotion about the race.
But....
I didn' find rates for other "ZERO"-race in this forum.
But there is f1fanatic with such statistics.
Example:
2009 Spanish GP - average rate 5,31 (1786 voters)

Well, I rather enjoyed it! Reminded me of classic races at Imola, where the skill of the driver at defending was as crucial as his ability to overtake. I did get a bit tired of Lewis the frustrated Heat Manager though. Great first win for Valtteri too- I hope he goes a bit Mika from now on. I gave it a 7.
:p

Awful race. Race? It was a race? No overtaking at all. Boring.

Good from Bottas a well deserved win. Nothing else to say about it really. I hope it goes off the calendar.

That was a non-race, therefore it gets a 1 as 0 is not available.
That has always intrigued me about these sort of polls in general.
Surely Zero has as much right to be there as Ten.

If it is possible for the 'rose tinted spectacles' brigade to give the 'Perfect' score .....:aww:
..... why can't the 'grumpy by default' brigade be allowed to give the 'Complete Crap' score?>:(:bangfists:

Zero.00000000000001, which rounds up to 1, for me

olegg it was nothing personal, it was not the location, it was certainly not the view, it was not altogether the circuit (but then I am biassed against street circuits), it was not altogether the lack of overtaking, it was just that nothing gelled despite an exciting qualifying session. The leader was slightly faster than the second who was slightly faster than the third who was slightly faster than the fourth who was a lot faster than the fifth; this carried on right through the field.

The ultrasoft tyres were not replaced because they had gone off but rather for tactical reason, not to gain places but to hold on to the position they had. With ten or so laps to go I worked out from the timing that at best Vettel was going to catch Bottas no more than two laps from the finish and since Bottas was straighter in a straight line and the way the drivers handle DRS now Vettel was unlikely to get past a faster car in the short term.

A huge part of the problem is that the cars are too much alike; if the engine manufacturers were told that their would be xxx litres of fuel per race go build the engine however you want to it would be a start. At one time the engines were either 1.5 litre supercharged or 4.5(?) litres normally aspirated which made quite a difference in the weight of the car requiring differing suspension systems and tyres. Cars went better on some circuits than others, yes there were boring races then but at least you could often see a car in the lead develop a problem which the driver had to nurse or it could even run out of fuel going round the last corner.

Those days will not return but we deserve something better than the current offering.

ZERO RATED QUESTION

Dario Resta ramilas1 the out of ten has been from 1-10 for several years now. There is good stats for these CTA ratings going back a fair way. IF we were to add a 'zero' option it would potentially skew the consistency of the historic votes.

Personally I would be fine with that. Several times I have wanted to score a race a zero myself. But best to put it out there for opinions please people before the poll for spain.

Hopefully there will not be too many more Bore-Zero races this season; although, in my opinion, the last few seasons have seen a veritable plethora (think that's a polite way of saying ****in' loads) of them.
:snigger:

I'm ok with it, it's just that 1 looks like a positive, and from a racing point of view there weren't any. Even Putin knew it wasn't worth turning up until near the end. Pleased for Bottas, but that's not enough to give this total procession any credit. Quite enjoyed the Russian anthem. Great costumes as well.

Yes.
It's nothing personal.
It's a matter of liking.
Not the number of overtakes determines the interest, and quality of races.
If have to choose between overtakes without a fighting and a fighting without the overtakes,
for example, I will choose the second scenario.

Yes.... "There was no fighting either".... :)
And gap between first and second equal 0.617
Gap between 7th and 8th equal 1.184

Fighting in the Sochi race was more than in Australian race.
And race in the Sochi was more interesting than in the Australia.

9 out of 10 for a near flawless drive by Bottas. His only blemish was his single brake lockup after which he defended superbly.

Hamberg ..... It's the very fact that it is the pinnacle of motorsport the leads to zero overtaking. At this level overtaking becomes impossible which is why we have artificial aids like DRS. They have the same issue in the US which is why they have push-to-pass in Indy Car racing. With cars at this level and drivers who hold super licences we will never see overtaking, that's the nature of single seater racing in Europe and the States. The only exception to this are the American ovals and pack racing with its extreme dangers.

Sorry there is more excitement and action on the M6.

Even the artificial aids didn't work.

Apart from one lap where Vettel got with 0.8 seconds, which didn't really cause any need to defend, there was no opportunity to attack and no need to defend.

I agree that defending can be as exciting as overtaking but that was totally absent as well.

There was zero racing. It was a 90min procession.

This race was diabolical.
