Pre-Season 2017 Testing, Car Launches & Chat

McLaren were going to hold a joint press conference with Honda later today but it has been cancelled. Make of this what you will.

McLaren should "do a Brawn" and shoe-horn in a Merc lump instead of the hopeless Honda at the 11th hour...we all know how well that went, don't we?;)

Pole last year in Spain 1:22.00
Fastest lap 1:26.94

Seb has just done a 1:19.024 and he won't be running on fumes. That 5 seconds faster looks possible.

I am expecting this season for Vandoorne to really push Alonso. Because the last time i saw a guy this good in lower formula was Nico Hulkenberg. In his 2 yr spell in he Broke nearly every Gp2 record

- Most wins (11)
- most poles (8)
- most podiums (26)
- highest win % (25.6%)
- Most points (570.5)
- most points won in a season
- he won his debut which was rare in pirelli era
- when he won the GP2 title, he had realistically won it by july when he left hungary 80pts clear

Most of the reports I read suggested that Vettel backed off in the last third of the lap so there may be better to come.

It sounds as though Vettel has not done a single fast flying lap in one go FB.

I can remember other drivers doing this in free practice, slow second section, fast final section, fast first section, fast second section then slow third section. I don't think that it kids the other teams though.

From memory, reading the Motorsport live text yesterday, they said Hamilton did a flyer on the SuperSofts, a few minutes after Vettel's fastest on the Ultras, and was about 4 tenths quicker in the final sector...
.... which is where, I guess, his comment about Ferrari sand-bagging came from.
Naughty Sebastian :spank: you know that's what RBR and the Mercs are there to do!

Kimi has just done a 1:19.267 on the Standard Softs.
Guess they don't have sandbags in Finland? LOL
12:24
Then a 19.019 on Supers
12:38
Allegedly, still only on a new set of Supers 1:18.634

Ferrari run out of bags to put sand in, or is Kimi in 'leave me alone, I know what I'm doing' mode?

Doesn't surprise me because when he has pushed he been on step or 2 harder tyres & still only been 4/5tenths off mercedes. Like i think lewis did a late 19 on super softs & vettel had 20.3 on softs (Obviously fuel levels are unknown)
