Romain Grosjean

Was drafted into F1 with not an ounce of testing and replaced Nelson Piquet Jr in the middle of 2009 when he was possibly on route to becoming the GP2 Champion that season, which went to Nico Hulkenburg.

In his 7 races in F1 he failed to impress and the no in-season testing rule didn't help his course. Plus having Fernando Alonso as his teammate couldn't have helped either.

In 2010 Grosjean went to do Auto GP, before returning back to GP2 on July 20th for a few guess appearances for DAM'S. But in 2011 Grosjean was given a full-time drive by DAM'S for the 2011 GP2 series and went on to become the 2011 GP2 Champion.

My question is will Grosjean get a drive for 2012? Plus how far can this guy go if he gets into F1?

To be honest Il_leone I'm not sure why anyone is surprised. If you go back to the end of 2013 when Grosjean last had a decent car he always drove the wheels off it even pushing the Red Bulls on occasions

RasputinLives I am not surprised although there are a few detractors thinking he got whooped by Alonso when it was not his fault that Flavio Briatore decided to stick a knife to Nelson Piquet jnr using him as a pawn and his "First Lap Nutcase" incident should devalue his abilities and talent

I am glad he made the bold move for his career which his old gp2 rival Nico Hulkenberg did not fancy

Fair play to Roman

After his crash in quali he sounded exceptionally winded. I think they would have been alright waiting whilst you got some oxygen Romain.

On this subject the DAMS team said Grosjean was the best driver they'd seen at setting up a car and credit him with the reason they won the championships in GP2 after he'd left. He doesn't seem to have the same skill with the Haas at the moment.

I like Grosjean but ive problem with him because youve got to not so much have answers but suggestions. Im fine with drivers complaining saying the cars dreadful. But like grosjean to a point alonso last season their is no point in saying "this car is worse ive ever driven" should be saying "this car is worse ive ever driven" because <insert fault> / but can we try this.

I'm pretty sure that Grosjean is not the only F1 driver who has moaned about his car in frustration, without a remedy.
The swear beep has barely been off at Ferrari this year. If Jenson Button launched a fragrance, it would be called "Oversteer".
They're not engineers, they're sportsmen. Bloody clever and responsible sportsmen, granted, but I doubt you could judge them best amidst the heat of battle.
He's the Heidfeld of the 2010s.

I had high hopes for Grosjean making a career defining move at the start of the season but he has been beaten again by Gutierrez so am just beginning to wonder is it because Esteban is desperate for his job or has Romain fallen out with his engineer because he has not done anything notable recently to say hey what about me

I should add Romain says his confidence is close to zero this weekend after two heavy crashes but Singapore was also the place where he crashed at the same corner where Piquet deliberately crashed the year before

Oh, the car, definitely.

Yeah the dallara updates have sent it backwards. But he helping no one, with just mindless moaning. Constantly saying this is the worse car isnt going to make it any better in the same way a toddler crying/tantrum wont get its own way.

You've got to have suggestions

I don't think that he was actually beaten by Gutierrez in Singapore. The team could nit even give him a car which would even start the race.

You can imagine that Romain's motivation must be fairly low. Haas started the season well and has then gone backwards. Kermit is probably simply grateful to be sat in an F1 car.
