Adrian Sutil

Just noticed that this German doesn't have his own thread and thought it was about time he did.

Sutil began his F1 career back in 2007, entering F1 in the same year that Lewis Hamilton did.

Sutil has remained with the same team (only under different names) throughout his time in F1 so far. Since his F1 debut Adrian has competed in 84 races collecting 77 points in. Sutil unbelievable has a fastest racing lap to his name aswell!

Sutil to me has always been one of those constant midfield runners who will score a point or two when he's on top of his game. But i'm really struggling to see him step up to another level of racing team as there's a lot of driver out their better than him. Other than Force India where could he actually go to?

Reminds me of Fisichella, although Fisi was great when he was at Bennetton, let me find another comparison.

I can't really think of one really, was going to say Trulli but he was good in his time too, then I thought....Nick Heidfeld, but that would annoy Whippet so... :dunno:

Nick Heidfeld! :)

Anyone think that Mr Sutil is going to spend so long waiting around to see if he gets the Force India drive that he'll end up missing out on the Williams seat?

Especially with Petrov and his lovely wad of cash now on the market

I did mention a while back that Sutil staying in the same team just because there is no option elsewhere or should I say he got rejected at the 11th hour does not look great for his career especially if he got beaten by his teammate and he had nothing else to gain ( - remember Heidfeld getting rejected by Mclaren and then losing to Frentzen who could not hold a drive in F1 which almost finished Heidfeld)
Fisi's career he just was not smart enough to realise he was getting tossed around between teams by fatman Flavio to accomodate his new golden boy Alonso at the time

As for Sutil seems like he's going to be at Williams given he's got more experience than Senna and Petrov.

Sutil said he had multiple offers on the table to decide his future so they clearly had to be

a) Force India
b) Williams
c) Renault

the only thing that would have held up where he is going would be where Kimi and the other Renault drivers fit in.

I don't see Williams taken on inexperienced guys like Senna and Petrov unless they come up with significantly more money in sponsors than Sutil to get the drive

May seem quite random but I think Sutil will replace Trulli at Caterham. Williams would be the best option but they apparently want him to sign a multi-year contract whereas he only wants a 1 year contract. So the likes of Petrov might get the Renault powered Williams seat instead which would leave HRT as the only open seat. However I don't think Sutil is desperate enough to race for HRT and the only driver further up the grid I can realistically see him ousting is Jarno Trulli. He can probably bring more money than Trulli and he's had a far better season so I think Caterham would be more than willing to drop Trulli for Sutil.

Would be good for Kovalainen if he had Sutil become his teammate. They'd really push each other hard all the way through the season. Plus these two would be the way forward for Catherham as they've been set the target of beating Williams and Toro Rosso this season from Fernandez.

Well this was all but forgotten about in the rush to pat Adrian on the back for his good form at the end of the season

It seems to me whilst we were all up in arms about a driver who's had such a good season being pushed out his seat and decided to blame in on pay drivers and veterens who don't retire we completely forgot about the Shanghai incident and maybe this is the real reason no team has decided to take on Mr Sutil because they don't want to risk the association with a GBH case.

Does this mean the FIA will declare a new rule saying any person involved in a court room in the last 6 months won't be allowed in the paddock?
Oh wait...that would rule out Bernie LOL

And Ron Dennis, and Flavio, and Tony Fernandes and VJ and......

hmmmm - what does that say about F1?

I think we're probably best to limit ourselves to talking about the motor racing. I don't think we need an armchair jury acquitting nor finding him guilty of this accusation. However, it is possible that Williams are waiting for the outcome of the case before making a decision.

Last week they were saying Barrichello could be retained and now its Bruno Senna in pole position with sponsors behind him..

I have to say Williams Renault with Senna although it brings back painful memories it is a very powerful marketing tool for the team just like (Lotus) Renault with Senna last year

Can I just state for the record that I have not expressed and opinion on whether Sutil was guilty or not guilty just that teams may shy away from being associated with him due to the current court case and the publicity it brings. Something I don't think I'm wrong in saying.

I was hardly at his door with pitchforks and a noose so lets not overplay the PC thing.

It wasn't an accusation. Just want to head off the armchair juries.
