Susie Wolff born 6 December 1982 in Oban is a British racing driver from Scotland. She has progressed through the ranks of motorsport, starting off in karting, then moving up to Formula Renault and Formula Three before moving to the DTM to compete for Mercedes-Benz since 2006. In 2012 she was signed by the Williams Formula One team to work as a development driver and she is still in that role. She lives in Ermatingen, Switzerland with her husband Toto Wolff, since January 21, 2013, executive director of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. The two were married in October 2011. Susie is aiming to be the first ever woman since 1976 and Lella Lombardi to race in F1. She has her own TV program on Sunday 24.3.2013 BBC2 8pm ...
Thought he deserves a thread, Kiwi that has been racing in the Australian V8 championship for around 6 years. 2018 and 2019 series champion, would have been 2017 champ as well but for a post race penalty, 2019 Bathurst 1000 winner. Currently driving for DJR/Penske, highly rated by Penske, so much so they included him in the first offical Indy car test for the season on the back of some simulator work and one team test. Didn't disappoint posting the third fastest time in a field that included 7 past champions, only the pole and second place qualifier from last years race at the same circuit ahead of him on the time sheets. Penske have entered him for the road race at Indy in May. Back in a V8 supercar last weekend and straight back on...
Born in Brazil in April 1989 Razia spent most of his early career racing in south america becoming the F3 south american champion in 2006. His career after that became very bitty for instance he took part in just 3 international Formula 3000 races winning them all but didn't appear for the rest of the championship. The same happened when he came into GP2 in fact he was team mates with Max Chilton for all of one GP2 round at the begining of the 2008 series before the team dropped both drivers. Razia was in and out of the series after that but in 2010 had a full year with Pastor Maldonado as his team mate. Pastor won the title and Razia only came 11th which did him no favours at all. He did test for Virgin racing in the young drivers...
Although I won’t be able to watch it live on British TV (grumble grumble) I’m still looking forward to the massive event that is the Indy 500 taking place on the worlds most famous Oval so in order to build up to that I thought I’d write a thread for the driver who jointly has the most wins at the blue ribbon event Scotlands very own Dario Franchitti. The Scot with the Italian name started his karting career in the early 1980’s alongside fellow Scots Allan McNish and David Coulthard. He won the Scottish junior title in 1984, the British junior championship in 1985 and 1986 before winning the British senior title in 1988. He then upgraded to Formula Vauxhall Junior where he was champion by 1991 and continued his fast climb by jumping...
During a brief search for info on American driver Conor Daly whilst looking into GP3 I thought the guy, and the sheer amount of competitions he’s been doing of late would be worth a thread to himself so here I am writing it. Conor Daly is the 21 year old son of former F1 and Indy Car driver Derek Daly. Derek was Irish born but after his F1 career came to an end in 1982 (quite a successful year for Williams by his standards) he switched over to the Indy Car’s in America and raced there until 1989 with the occasional good result. It was after his career ended in 1991 that his boy Conor was born, in Indianapolis of all places. The apple never falls too far from the tree and Conor has followed in his father’s footsteps and gone into racing...
