Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Whitmarsh let slip on Sunday that Button's deal is for three years.

Slyboogy I have inside sources at MI5

Button has been very good in the second half of this season. I think the Pirelli tyres have helped as he struggled a lot last year, we are seeing quite a few drivers struggling with the tyres (Hamilton, Massa, Webber etc.) while only a few have benefitted, one of them being Button.

Next season when Hamilton's finally refreshed, I think I will make more of a judgement on him.

Although, given McLaren's past contracts, that's probably 3 years with an option for more.....

Still he will go down as the first person to beat Lewis Hamilton as teammate which should not be disregarded

The tyres are the same for all the teams and drivers not like Ferrari/ Bridgestone deals back in early 2000's so both Mclaren drivers started with the same page on tyres..only difference is one has made better use than the others which will always be the case if you outperform your teammate unless it is the Schumacher situation already mentioned

I don't think thats what Hamilton wants to hear but its probably got a clause in it should another team want him

but 3 years would mean it ends in 2014 when a Ferrari or a Red Bull or a Mercedes drive could be on

Do you know what? I'm with Jenson, I couldn't give a **** either. The media only give a **** because they want to fill the column inches with the kind of bollocks that you just posted a link to.

I think you would give the same response if you were beating one of the best drivers and the press decided to ask about your teammate's problems

The same response that Alonso or Webber would give. Senna would not care either nor would Schumacher

Its not Jenson's problem he is doing his job and Lewis has got himself aligned with the wrong people to manage his career.

I've already said lucky Vettel is not British otherwise he would be even more aggrieved that the media inc the BBC decide to focus their attention on Hamilton and I thought people had a problem last year saying the BBC gave Button more time than Hamilton well it seems like Hamilton cant stay out of getting attention

.... Well, it's like we get the Hamilton Broadcasting Corporation nowadays... (Joke).....

However, if I had just done a fantastic job and finished 2nd in a race, only behind the runaway fastest car/driver combination, and the only thing that the press asked me about was my team-mate, i'd be pretty aggrieved too!

    HammydiRestarules Coach is World Champion

I have to say i've been mightly impressed with Jenson this season. He's proved an awful lot of doubters right (I must admit me included) wrong. This season has really made me change my mind about Jens but i think for the first time in a long time the BBC's coverage has given me a chance to get to see the real Jenson and his driving this year has gone up to another level. I hope he and Lewis will push RBR and Vettel hard for the title next season.

    Mephistopheles The Bristol Flyer

Button's karting career outshines most of todays F1 drivers including Lewis Hamilton's

He began karting at the age of eight, after his father bought him his first kart, and made an extraordinarily successful start. In 1989, aged nine, he came first in the British Super Prix. He won all 34 races of the 1991 British Cadet Kart Championship, along with the title.

Further successes followed, including three triumphs in the British Open Kart Championship. In 1997, he won the Ayrton Senna Memorial Cup and also became the youngest driver ever to win the European Super A Championship.

I'm sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news, especially to all of the Jenson fans, but I have to mention this.

Jensons season has been compromised before it has even got underway, I think that there are things at play which are working away under the surface, unseen by most.

    That's right.

My lucky Jenson socks have a hole in them.
