The first bonus points of the season will go to the players who can correctly predict:

How many laps will the HRT cars complete in total in the Australian GP weekend?

So I'm looking for the total number of laps completed by both HRT cars in the three practice sessions, qualifying and the race.

    Here are a few pointers:
    • Last season, HRT completed a total of 29 laps. In 2010 they managed 62.
    • By comparison Red Bull recorded 283 laps in Melbourne last year.
Simply click on the option in the poll that corresponds to your guess.

Players who guess the correct option will each receive 20 bonus points towards their FF1 total.

Players who are one category either side of the correct one will receive 5 bonus points each.

The poll will be closed at midnight on Thursday 15th March. After the deadline your choice is locked and you can't change your prediction.

crap, sorry, I voted before reading the whole thread. I am not signed up for the game. I still think this will be a better year for HRT.

Last year they only did 36 laps total at Melbourne. I don't think it will be much better this year, since their car will be ready at the same time as last year. Unless they are above the 107% this time around.

Could be a close thing who does the least laps in Australia, with HRT and Marussia/Virgin both likely to miss final testing.

You can imagine that Bernie will be sharpening that axe of his at this rate!

I don't understand why teams like Marussia and Virgin don't have their car ready. It's not like they have been fighting for the championship last year.

Last year their front wing hadn't passed the crash test in time for the Melbourne GP so they had to run their 2010 wing on their 2011 car which just didn't work properly. I think HRT will be better this year, though I'm probably the only one ambitious enough to think they'll do 251+ laps in Melbourne.

Ah! I was about to ask how many laps the Australian GP consists of and just double it for each car:embarrassed:and maybe take a few off in case of crash or breakdown. Not that easy:no:Its the WHOLE weekend:blink:Back to the drawing board!!

In and out laps in practice and qualifying included? Or just timed laps?

In and out laps included. The numbers will be taken from formula1.com

I'm working on one HRT finishing the race, one completing 10 laps in the race, and both cars completing 10 laps in every practice session with a bit of pessimism introduced by not considering qualifying. That gives me 128 laps.

Must admit I'd forgotten about the possibility of them not being able to race, but I'll stick with it.

This is just pure guesswork as we don't even know if they will have two cars able to run this weekend, never mind be within 107%.

What a fiendishly difficult first bonus round.

When I set the question I thought you would be able to exclude at least a few of the options by this stage! As ever they've kept us waiting.

What's the news on the grapevine? What will it be; a normal race for HRT, or a normal season opener for HRT? Trust your instincts.

I think the car is ready and I think we see at least one car doing reg laps in the practice sessions. I can see De La Rosa having to sit it out for a bit on Friday or something. But I think they'll be in the race and finish - both of them - even if it means slower running or lots of pit stops. The first race of the season is the race most likely to have high relaibility problems and the team won't want to not be around to take advantage of that to help their place in the constructors.

Its how they've been beating Marussia for the last 2 years.

Please note, the deadline has been extended by 24 hours to midnight Thursday night/Friday morning (GMT). Hopefully by then you may have more information to base your predictions on (though you may not).

How/why did 17 people think that HRT could manage 100 laps? And more importantly, why was I one of them?
